We thrive in a fast-paced environment where collaboration and open communication drive our success.Mercari is committed to empowering its employees to take ownership of their work, leveraging the latest technology, and embracing bold challenges at a rapid pace.As a key player in our engineering organization, you will have the opportunity to evolve into a strong leader, spearheading technological innovation for our entire group by enhancing our capabilities and promoting AI initiatives that reflect cutting-edge technology and knowledge.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and operate APIs using Golang, Java, or PHP.Analyze user behavior logs to improve services and measure effectiveness.Develop architectures and select middleware based on application requirements.Tune microservice performance, monitor systems, and handle alerts.Collaborate with product managers on development tasks (planning, design, implementation, QA, release).Investigate customer inquiries and development team requests.Perform system operation tasks, including responding to alerts while on call.Bold ChallengesWe seek individuals passionate about our mission and values who can make autonomous decisions and tackle challenges at a rapid pace.Requirements4-8 years of experience in backend design, development, and operation of APIs using Go, PHP, or Java.Experience developing and operating large-scale products, selecting technologies, and improving codebases.Experience designing and developing databases (MySQL or similar RDBMS).Ability to design and develop products considering performance and scalability.Experience selecting middleware and designing software architecture.Ability to lead software development processes and own projects.Effective communication skills for collaborating with stakeholders and teammates.Preferred QualificationsProject management and/or team leadership experience.Microservice architecture development and operation experience.Cloud development experience (GCP or AWS preferred).Knowledge of and experience with databases, networks, Linux, monitoring systems, logging, and SLO/SLA.Open-source project contribution experience.Work DetailsFull-time employment.Office location: Bangalore.Hybrid workstyle:We prioritize high performance and professionalism.We work from office 2 days/week and remotely 3 days/week.We review and update our policy as needed.FlexibilityFull flextime (no core time).We allow flexible working hours other than team common meetings.
