Search Engineer Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:We are seeking a skilled Search Engineer to design and implement search solutions using OpenSearch/Elasticsearch. The ideal candidate will have expertise in custom analysers, tokenisers, and scoring algorithms.Index & Template Management:The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining index templates, mappings, and lifecycle policies to ensure data integrity, performance, and scalability.Query Pipeline Development:Our team requires an engineer who can build and optimise custom query builders and search pipelines tailored to complex business requirements.AI/ML/LLM Powered Search:Leveraging LLMs and AI for data enrichment and improved search relevance is a key area of focus for our team.API Development:Experience with developing robust, scalable APIs for search using Python (FastAPI) is essential.Testing & Quality Assurance:The selected candidate will lead efforts in integration, regression, and performance testing to ensure reliability and accuracy of search features.DevOps & Automation:Automating deployment and management of search infrastructure, including index templates and search pipelines, is crucial.Collaboration:The ideal candidate will work closely with data engineers and product teams to deliver high-quality search experiences.Requirements5+ years experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch in production environments.Experience with AI/LLM-based search experiences such as RAG, learning to rank, and query understanding.Expert level expertise in Python, with experience building APIs (preferably FastAPI).Deep understanding of search concepts: analysers, tokenisers, relevance tuning, custom scoring, and query DSL.Experience with index template management, lifecycle policies, and large-scale data modelling.Proficiency in designing and optimising search pipelines and custom query builders.Practical hands-on experience developing software using AI-assisted tools and workflows.Strong testing background: integration, regression, and performance testing.DevOps skills: automation, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred).Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Experience with S3, AWS Lambda, and cloud-native architectures.Why You'll Love ItGreen-field impact—architect the backbone of our data engine from the ground up.Remote-first flexibility—work anywhere in India and set core hours that suit your life.Small senior team—less bureaucracy, quicker decisions, visible results.A collaborative, innovative, and supportive team culture.Let's TalkWe are excited to hear from you
