Mechanical Design Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION- Design Engineer Mechanical Location Mumbai Key Accountabilities What are the core accountabilities For example what decisions can the jobholder make What decisions does the jobholder go to their manager for Health Safety Security Environment Ensure Health Safety Security Environmental standards during project design Ensure regulatory requirements are complied with Project profitability schedule and cost Ensure that the project design is within the pre-bid estimates Ensure projects are delivered on schedule as agreed at the time of contract Ensure that the schedule and cost are maintained within the limits defined in the agreement with the client through proper design and timely interaction with the project team Project scope and risk Understand the scope as per contract document and ensure that it is delivered Deviations from scope is identified and dealt with as per contract procedure with prior internal approval Ensure project risks are identified documented managed and mitigated People Development To train mentor and develop team members to ensure that their competency levels not only meet current requirement but also improves to meet next higher levels Responsible for appraising the performance of all team members submitting appraisal reports to the Company Time Horizon What impact can the role make on Company What is the legacy he she wants to leave behind Over what timeframe can performance be judged Impact Client satisfaction Promote a performance driven and target oriented culture Establish knowledge bank for CHP design Timely delivery of project design and technical support for project implementation Ensure that company policies and procedures are followed within his area of influence Legacy Improved ways and strategy to deliver technically sound most economical project design Develop inhouse expertise for project design Performance Time Frame Six months PERSON SPECIFICATION Experience Needed What are the critical experiences that are needed to successfully perform this job Never describe experience in terms of number of years required Exposure to design of mid-size projects 200 - 600 cr in onshore offshore upstream downstream energy sector or material mineral handling facilities Preference shall be given to candidates with exposure to Coal Handling Plants Experience of independently handling mechanical design of a mid-size project Handling of outsourced design assignments Quality assurance and quality control systems and processes Budgeting and forecasting Tender document Contract interpretation Conflict resolution and management Exposure of working with public sector organisations Knowledge Languages Skills and Attributes What is the critical knowledge academic background and skills that are needed to successfully perform this job What personal attributes and behaviours are required e g self motivations resilience Graduate in engineering mechanical discipline with working knowledge of other disciplines In-depth knowledge of mechanical design preferably related to coal handling systems General exposure to project engineering management Knowledge of design software and tools AutoCad or others Project technical interface Management internal and external Presentation skills Liaisoning and networking Stakeholder management Plan and prioritize own work and delegate effectively Verbal and written communication skills Commercial acumen and negotiation skills Special Features Any unusual features not already mentioned e g required geographical mobility ability to undertake occasional travel etc Cross cultural awareness and sensitivity Willing to relocate to Mumbai Domestic and international travel at short notice Extended stay at project site
