JD Position : Head HR plant Location : Chennai The HR Head will lead the complete HR, IR and administration function for the steel plant, with a strong focus on statutory compliance, industrial relations and lesioning with government and local authorities. Key Responsibilities - Develop and implement HR strategy, policies and annual HR budgets aligned with plant and corporate business objectives. - Lead end-to-end HR operations: manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, induction, confirmations, transfers, separations and full & final settlements. - Drive performance management, goal setting, talent management, succession planning and leadership development initiatives across the plant. - Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable labor laws, Factory Act, CLRA, ESIC, PF, gratuity and other statutory requirements, including timely returns and audits. - Handle industrial relations, union negotiations, disciplinary actions and grievance redressal, maintaining harmonious relations with workmen and contract labor. - Act as the primary liaison with labor department, factories inspectorate, PCB, local administration and other statutory authorities for licenses, approvals, inspections and issue resolution. - Represent the company in labor office/court matters, conciliation meetings and statutory inspections, ensuring proper documentation and closure. - Oversee employee welfare, safety-related HR initiatives, canteen, transport and other welfare schemes to improve engagement and retention. - Lead training need identification and implementation of training & development programs for staff and workmen, including statutory trainings. - Supervise payroll, attendance, leave management, HRIS and maintenance of all HR and statutory records and documentation. Qualifications and Experience - Full-time MBA/PGDM in HR, MSW, MPM or equivalent from a reputed institute. - Minimum 15–20 years of progressive experience in HR and Industrial Relations in steel, metals, or heavy manufacturing industry, with at least 8–10 years in a plant HR Head/GM HR/IR Head role. - Strong experience in handling unions, large blue-collar workforce and contract labor in a plant environment. - Proven track record of lesioning with labor department, factory inspectorate, PCB, local bodies and other statutory/government authorities for permissions, renewals and compliance matters. - In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, factory HR practices, and best practices in HR, IR and administration for large manufacturing plants. - Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with ability to work closely with promoters, senior management and external authorities.
