About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer - Avionics & Integration with expertise in UAV integration, avionics electronics and data analysis. The candidate will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and integration of UAV systems, ensuring smooth collaboration between hardware, software, and operational teams. This individual will also lead multidisciplinary teams and be responsible for project planning, execution, and ensuring systems are designed to meet regulatory and performance standards.

Responsibilities

UAV System Integration:

- Lead the integration of hardware and software systems for UAV platforms, ensuring seamless operation.
- Develop detailed schematics, wiring diagrams and layouts for avionics components such as sensors, displays and control units.
- Design and implement embedded software for avionics systems, ensuring compatibility with hardware and mission requirements.
- Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and refine system architectures.

Avionics and Electronics:

- Design and manage the integration of avionics systems into aircraft or spacecraft, ensuring seamless interoperability with other sub-systems (e.g., propulsion, electrical, and structural systems).
- Develop and maintain interface control documents (ICDs) to define how avionics systems interact with other sub-systems
- Ensure proper functioning and safety of electrical and electronic components in line with aviation standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to avionics hardware/software interfaces.

Data Analysis and Optimization:

- Lead data collection, analysis, and interpretation of flight data to improve UAV performance.
- Develop tools for real-time data analysis and system diagnostics.
- Use predictive analytics to identify system optimizations and predict system failures.

Team Leadership & Project Management:

- Manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, ensuring alignment with project goals and deadlines.
- Facilitate collaboration among hardware, software, mechanical, and operations teams.
- Implement agile methodologies to improve efficiency and team productivity.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across departments.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

- Stay up to date with the latest developments in UAV technologies, avionics systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead research and development efforts for new UAV capabilities and system improvements.
- Continuously explore and integrate cutting-edge technologies, such as AI, machine learning, and automation, into UAV systems.

Qualifications

- Bachelors or Master’s degree in Engineering in the following: Electronics & Communication, Instrumentation, Embedded Systems, Electronics & Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Aerospace or related fields.
- Experience: 3+ years in UAV systems integration, avionics electronics, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of UAV platforms, flight control systems, avionics hardware, and data analytics.
- Hands-on experience with real-time data analysis, UAV flight testing, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with regulatory compliance (FAA Part 107, BVLOS, etc.) and certification processes.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing cross-functional engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge on AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 standard
- Knowledge of standards as MIL-STD-810H, JSS-55555, DO-178C, DO-254, etc.
- Good understanding of interface protocols such as MIL-STD-1553, ARINC-429 etc.
