Job Description

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to lead the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines. This critical role ensures the seamless delivery of applications through automation, performance tuning, and security integration. The ideal candidate will drive best practices across the software release lifecycle, optimize system performance, and embed security into all aspects of platform operations, contributing directly to the organization's agility, security posture, and operational excellence.

Software Requirements

Required Skills:

- Proven expertise in cloud architecture, specifically AWS (Amazon Web Services), including services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, and IAM.
- Extensive experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeCommit, or similar tools.
- Strong automation skills through shell scripting, Python, or a comparable language.
- Experience in infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or equivalents.
- Deep understanding of DevSecOps principles, security automation, and tooling (e.g., security scanning, vulnerability assessment).
- Solid knowledge of system performance, monitoring, and alerting tools, such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, or equivalent.

Preferred Skills:

- Knowledge of container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes/EKS.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
- Experience with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments.

Overall Responsibilities

- Manage and oversee the entire software release lifecycle, from build automation to production deployment, ensuring consistency and reliability.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines, emphasizing speed, security, and operational stability.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to embed security controls and best practices throughout the platform.
- Develop infrastructure configurations and deployment frameworks to support scalable, resilient cloud environments.
- Continually improve system performance through automation, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure system health, security, and availability at scale.
- Lead incident response activities, conduct blameless post-mortems, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promote security awareness and enforce security protocols across the DevSecOps lifecycle.

Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming Languages:

- Essential: Shell scripting, Python (or equivalent) for automation and tooling.
- Preferred: Proficiency in languages like Go or Bash scripting.

Databases & Data Management:

- Knowledge of database management, particularly relational databases like MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server, with experience integrating databases into pipelines and architectures.

Cloud Technologies:

- Deep experience with AWS services, including deployment, security, and cost management.
- Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid deployments is a plus.

Frameworks and Libraries:

- Knowledge of infrastructure automation frameworks such as CloudFormation, Terraform, and scripting libraries for automation.

Development Tools and Methodologies:

- Expertise with Jenkins, AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeCommit, Git, and CI/CD best practices.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps environments, including version control and automated testing.

Security Protocols:

- Strong understanding of security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), encryption, and security scanning tools.
- Ability to implement security controls within CI/CD pipelines, including vulnerability assessments and compliance checks.

Experience Requirements

- Minimum of 7+ years' experience working in DevSecOps, cloud engineering, or related roles.
- Demonstrated success in designing and managing large-scale, resilient cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Proven track record implementing CI/CD pipelines, automation, and performance tuning at scale.
- Experience in security automation and embedding security into CI/CD pipelines is essential.
- Industry experience in finance, healthcare, or highly regulated sectors is advantageous but not mandatory.

Day-to-Day Activities

- Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Collaborate daily with development, operations, and security teams to implement secure and scalable automation workflows.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and enhance system performance and security across cloud environments.
- Conduct system capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization activities.
- Lead incident response efforts, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Document architecture, processes, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in daily stand-ups, planning sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Security Specialty, or DevOps-related certifications are preferred.
- Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and apply best practices efficiently.
