About The Role

Are you passionate about shaping the future of digital privacy within a global energy organization BP Energy is seeking a highly skilled Data Privacy Professional to join its Customers & Products (C&P) business area. This role is pivotal in ensuring that BP&aposs digital initiatives comply with international data privacy standards and regulations, thereby safeguarding customer trust and corporate reputation. You will support the global community of Data Privacy Managers, managing strategic data privacy products and solutions originating from the Central Data Office (CDO). Your expertise will help balance the innovative use of marketing and advertising technologies with robust privacy protections, ensuring BP&aposs data privacy framework aligns with local and global requirements.

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence privacy practices at a strategic level, working across diverse teams including legal, digital security, and business units. You will act as a key advisor, helping to identify risks, develop controls, and implement privacy solutions that support BPs digital transformation journey. The role requires a proactive approach to managing data privacy risks, fostering a culture of privacy by design, and building customer trust through transparent and compliant data handling practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of data privacy principles, regulations, and product ownership. A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in data privacy, risk management, or related fields is required. You should have a strong grasp of domestic and international privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant standards, along with practical experience in digital privacy technologies. Familiarity with Ad-Tech and Mar-Tech ecosystems, tools, and frameworks is highly desirable.

You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. A passion for promoting customer trust and transparency in digital services is essential. Additionally, experience in handling data subject rights requests, privacy impact assessments, and privacy compliance audits will be advantageous. A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work collaboratively across functions are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

- Serve as a senior expert in data privacy, providing strategic advice and guidance to project teams and business units to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
- Collaborate with BPs Central Data Privacy Office and Central Data Office to conduct risk assessments, manage privacy risk logs, and ensure compliance with global privacy standards.
- Partner with business units to identify privacy vulnerabilities and implement effective controls and solutions, fostering a privacy-conscious culture.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance privacy awareness and capabilities across the organization.
- Act as the primary Data Privacy Manager for business units lacking dedicated privacy resources, supporting activities such as Data Mapping and Privacy Impact Assessments.
- Work closely with the C&P Marketing Hub and Data Privacy Managers to develop and implement privacy solutions tailored to marketing and digital initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of scalable, future-proofed global privacy frameworks that support local market needs while maintaining consistency with corporate standards.
