About Paytm:
Paytm is India's leading mobile payments and financial services distribution company. Pioneer of the mobile QR payments revolution in India, Paytm builds technologies that help small businesses with payments and commerce. Paytm's mission is to serve half a billion Indians and bring them to the mainstream economy with the help of technology.
About the Role:
As a Director of Product for Central Data Platforms you play a pivotal role in establishing a robust data engine catering to both internal as well as external stakeholders covering multiple technologies, products and systems. You will collaborate with leadership and cross-functional partners in driving the conceptual and technical development of business/customer facing capabilities and use cases within the fin tech domain. As a key member of the Data Platform Product Management team, you'll collaborate closely with a talented troop of Developers, Product Designers, Technical Architects along with various Business, Product, and Analytics stakeholders within Paytm. The role will focus on the data privacy and compliance requirements and will be responsible for building capabilities and improving existing platforms to ensure all data privacy requirements are covered.
Expectations/Requirements:
.Define and own the privacy-first product strategy and roadmap - partner with business leaders, compliance, legal, engineering, and security teams to ensure all products and platforms embed PII protection and comply with regulations such as GDPR, DPDPA, and other global data privacy frameworks.
.Translate regulatory requirements into product features and guardrails - interpret complex legal obligations into practical, technology-enabled solutions such as consent management, purpose limitation, data minimization, data retention, right-to-erasure, data portability, and breach notification mechanisms.
.Leverage prior implementation experience - bring proven expertise in having previously led end-to-end GDPR/DPDPA readiness programs, including privacy by design, impact assessments (DPIAs), data subject rights tooling, and cross-border data flow controls.
.Work with technology platforms and architects to embed privacy controls into data pipelines, identity management, logging/audit, and consent frameworks. Ensure privacy engineering principles are part of the design from day one, not retrofitted.
.Establish a privacy-first product lifecycle - integrate compliance checks into the agile development process, ensure privacy impact assessments are standardized, and create playbooks for handling regulatory audits and customer trust reviews.
.Conduct ongoing stakeholder engagement - work with customer-facing teams, legal, infosec, data governance, and regulators where needed to ensure end-to-end coverage of user journeys while balancing usability, trust, and compliance obligations.
.Benchmark and monitor global privacy regulations - stay ahead of evolving privacy landscapes (EU AI Act, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.), evaluate their impact on the business, and translate them into scalable, proactive product roadmaps.
.Champion data stewardship and reusability - ensure consistent privacy tooling (e.g., consent management, encryption, anonymization) across company platforms prevent duplication and reinforce common controls wherever possible.
.Drive metrics & accountability - define KPIs for privacy compliance and customer trust (e.g., % of systems with data minimization enabled, time-to-respond to data subject requests, audit readiness scores), and report regularly to leadership.
.Be the voice of innovation in privacy - identify new SaaS/privacy-tech capabilities (e.g., PETs, differential privacy, federated learning, vaults) and evaluate how they can future-proof the company's data privacy posture.
Superpowers/Skills that will help you succeed in this role:
. Bachelor's/Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management, or related field, with 10-12 years of product management experience.
.Deep expertise in GDPR, India's DPDPA, and exposure to implementing global data privacy frameworks.
.Proven track record of building privacy-first products - consent management, data minimization, retention/erasure, cross-border transfer controls.
.Strong technical understanding of cloud-native and microservices platforms, with working knowledge of data governance, security, and encryption practices.
.Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into simple, scalable product solutions.
.Excellent strategic and analytical thinking, with a data-driven approach to prioritization and measuring success.
.Strong collaboration and influence skills - able to align legal, engineering, compliance, and business stakeholders.
.Exceptional communication and presentation skills, simplifying complex privacy topics for technical and executive audiences.
.Highly motivated self-starter with a bias for action, accountability, and innovation.
.Payments/Fintech industry exposure is a strong plus.
Why join us .

. Improve the average revenue per use by increasing the cross-sell opportunities
