Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager to lead our SDK and NOS development team in Chennai. This role requires a strong technical background in networking and a proven ability to lead and mentor a team. You will be responsible for managing the entire software development lifecycle, from platform bring-up to the sustenance of our Network Operating System. The ideal candidate will have expertise in network protocols, ASIC integration, and software management practices. With 10 to 15 years of experience.

Detailed Description

- Team Leadership & Management:Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers working on the Network Operating Software (NOS) and SDK. This includes managing both full-time and contract employees.

- Platform & System Development:Oversee the bring-up of our NOS on new hardware platforms, including the development of Linux device drivers.

- Networking Stack Expertise:Provide technical guidance and leadership in the development and maintenance of the networking stack. This includesLayer 2 (L2), Layer 3 (L3) protocols(such asOSPFandBGP),MPLS,VXLAN,QoS, andACLs.

- Management & Control Plane:Drive the development of management interfaces using protocols such asSNMP,NETCONF/YANG,REST,CLI,gNMI, andgRPC.

- ASIC/NPU Integration:Guide the team in developing software forBroadcom's XGS/DNXandMarvell's Innovium/Presterafamily of devices.

- Release Management:Oversee the entire release process, from planning to deployment, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of software.

- Cross-Functional Collaboration:Act as a key liaison between your team, other functional teams, vendors, and customer-facing organizations.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

- Experience:Proven experience in a managerial role within a networking software or NOS development environment is an added advantage. However Engineerskeen to move from Tech lead to Manager can also be considered.

- Technical Acumen:

- Deep understanding of networking protocols (L2/L3, MPLS, VXLAN).

- Hands-on experience with platform bring-up and Linux device drivers.

- Familiarity with network management protocols (NETCONF/YANG, gNMI).

- ASIC/NPU Knowledge:Strong working experience withBroadcomandMarvellASICs.

- Programming Languages:Solid experience withC,C++,Python, andGoLang.

- NOS Experience:Prior experience in NOS development or sustenance is essential. Experience withSONiC NOSis a significant advantage.

- Leadership Skills:

- Strong team-building and management abilities.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to manage external contractors and inter-work effectively with diverse teams.

Physical Demands

- Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment.
- Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
