Job Description

As a Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the conceptualization, design, and development of [mention specific products/components, e.g., mechanical parts, electronic enclosures, tooling, jigs & fixtures, product assemblies] from initial concept through to production. This role requires strong proficiency in CAD software, a deep understanding of engineering principles, material science, and manufacturing processes, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. You should be an innovative problem-solver with a keen eye for detail and a passion for creating functional and efficient designs.

Responsibilities

- Conceptualization & Design:
- Develop design concepts and specifications based on project requirements, customer needs, and market trends.
- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models of components, assemblies, and products using CAD software.
- Perform calculations to ensure structural integrity, functionality, and performance of designs.
- Select appropriate materials, considering properties, cost, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Analysis & Optimization:
- Conduct engineering analysis (e.g., stress analysis, FEA - Finite Element Analysis, kinematic analysis) to validate designs and optimize performance.
- Identify potential design flaws or areas for improvement and propose innovative solutions.
- Participate in design reviews, providing technical insights and receiving feedback.
- Prototyping & Testing Support:
- Collaborate with the prototyping team to build and test design prototypes.
- Analyze test results and implement design modifications as necessary to achieve desired performance.
- Documentation & Standards:
- Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including bill of materials (BOM), engineering change orders (ECO), and technical specifications.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
- Maintain organized design files and version control.
- Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with manufacturing, production, quality, and sales teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet market demands.
- Communicate design intent and technical details clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing and assembly phases.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated with the latest design tools, engineering technologies, and industry best practices.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and engineering department.
