Design Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing products, components, electrical systems, industrial machinery, and consumer goods.

The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in CAD software, a solid understanding of engineering principles, and excellent problem-solving skills. He/She should also be able to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and communicate design concepts to stakeholders.

  • Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualization & Design:

    • Create innovative design concepts and solutions using CAD software.
    • Generate detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and assembly designs with appropriate tolerances and material specifications.
    • Perform basic engineering calculations to validate design integrity.

  • Prototyping & Testing Support:

    • Collaborate with the prototyping and manufacturing teams to facilitate the creation of prototypes.
    • Support testing activities, analyze test data, and incorporate feedback into design iterations.
    • Identify potential design flaws and propose effective solutions.

  • Documentation & Standardization:

    • Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including Bill of Materials (BOM), Engineering Change Notices (ECN/ECO), and Technical Reports.
    • Evaluate all designs against relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.

  • Cost & Manufacturability Optimization:

    • Design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) to optimize designs for efficient and cost-effective production.
    • Explore and recommend new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and reduce costs.

  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:

    • Address design-related issues encountered during manufacturing, assembly, or field operation.
    • Participate in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and root cause analysis for design-related problems.

  • Vendor & Client Interaction:

    • Liaise with vendors for component selection and design validation.
    • Potentially interact with clients to understand their technical requirements or present design solutions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 4-5 years of experience in design engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, Autodesk, CATIA, CREO, Inventor.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
