Position Overview: The Sales Executive – Logistics and Freight Forwarding is responsible for generating new business opportunities and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients in the shipping, cargo, and logistics industry. This role involves selling freight forwarding services (air, sea, and land), customs clearance, warehousing, and transportation solutions to a diverse range of customers. The position demands a proactive approach to identifying prospects, negotiating contracts, and closing deals while delivering excellent customer service. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of international trade, logistics processes, and market trends, along with excellent networking skills.Key Responsibilities:1. Business Development & Lead Generation Identify potential clients in the import/export, manufacturing, retail, and trading sectors. Generate leads through cold calls, networking events, industry exhibitions, online research, and referrals. Build a strong sales pipeline to ensure consistent revenue growth. 2. Client Relationship Management Maintain long-term relationships with key accounts to ensure repeat business. Understand client requirements and provide customized logistics and freight forwarding solutions. Resolve client queries quickly and effectively to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Sales Presentations & Negotiations Prepare and deliver sales presentations to decision-makers. Explain freight forwarding services including air cargo, sea freight (FCL/LCL), customs brokerage, and domestic transportation. Negotiate rates, terms, and contracts to achieve profitable deals while maintaining competitive pricing. 4. Coordination with Operations & Customer Service Work closely with the operations team to ensure timely booking, shipment tracking, and delivery. Communicate customer requirements accurately to the operations department. Provide clients with shipment updates, documentation support, and problem resolution. 5. Market Research & Competitor Analysis Stay updated on industry developments, shipping regulations, and international trade trends. Monitor competitor activities and suggest strategies to improve market positioning. Identify new market segments and service opportunities. 6. Documentation & Compliance Ensure accuracy of shipping documents, contracts, and service agreements. Coordinate with customs, shipping lines, airlines, and other stakeholders for smooth operations. Follow international trade regulations, INCOTERMS, and company policies. 7. Sales Reporting Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and prospects in the CRM system. Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports for management review. Track performance against sales targets and take corrective actions when needed.Key Skills & Competencies: 1. Industry Knowledge Strong understanding of freight forwarding processes, supply chain management, and shipping documentation. Familiarity with INCOTERMS, HS codes, customs clearance procedures, and trade compliance. 2. Sales & Negotiation Skills Proven ability to generate leads, close sales, and meet revenue targets. Skilled in preparing proposals, quotations, and contracts. Strong persuasion skills to convert inquiries into confirmed business. 3. Communication Skills Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with clients, partners, and internal teams. Ability to deliver compelling presentations and service pitches. 4. Relationship Building Strong networking skills to develop and maintain long-term customer relationships. Capability to build trust and credibility with stakeholders. 5. Problem-Solving Skills Ability to resolve client issues quickly and effectively. Proactive approach to identifying potential shipment delays or operational bottlenecks. 6. Organizational & Time Management Skills Strong ability to prioritize multiple sales opportunities. Timely follow-ups and consistent communication with clients. 7. Tech Proficiency Familiarity with CRM tools, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and email correspondence. Basic knowledge of shipment tracking systems and freight management software. 8. Resilience & Target Orientation Ability to work under pressure in a competitive sales environment.
