Job Title : Japanese Translator Job Locations : Bengaluru Experience : 5+ Years Work Mode : Hybrid Japanese Language Translator –Telecom Domain Position Overview: We are seeking a Japanese Language Translator with strong communication and technical comprehension skills to act as a key interface between our teams in Japan and India. The ideal candidate will facilitate seamless communication, ensuring accurate translation and interpretation of technical discussions, project documentation, and requirements in the Telecommunications domain (4G/5G technologies). This role requires both linguistic proficiency (Japanese–English–Japanese) and basic technical understanding of Telecom networks, IT systems, and software project lifecycles. Key Responsibilities 1. Translation & Interpretation Translate written documents (emails, reports, technical specifications, presentations, user manuals, etc.) between Japanese and English with high accuracy and contextual understanding. Provide real-time verbal interpretation (simultaneous/consecutive) during virtual meetings, client discussions, and project workshops between the Japan and India teams. Ensure translations retain the original meaning, tone, and intent while making them culturally and contextually appropriate. 2. Communication Liaison Serve as a bridge between Japanese clients/stakeholders and the Offshore delivery teams. Support daily coordination calls, status meetings, and technical discussions by ensuring smooth and accurate communication. Assist project managers in drafting bilingual reports and communications for internal and client stakeholders. 3. Technical Understanding (Telecom & IT Domain) Understand basic Telecom concepts such as LTE/4G, 5G NR, network elements (eNodeB, gNodeB, EPC, Core Network), and associated terminologies. Support translation of technical documents, test reports, and requirement specifications. Work closely with technical teams to ensure translations reflect the correct technical intent and domain-specific vocabulary. 4. Documentation & Quality Maintain a terminology database (glossary) for project-specific technical terms in both Japanese and English. Review and proofread translated documents for accuracy, consistency, and clarity. Support creation of bilingual project documentation, training materials, and knowledge transfer documents. Required Skills and Qualifications Language Proficiency: Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) Level N2 or N1 (mandatory). Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written). Experience: 3–7 years of experience as a Japanese Translator / Interpreter in an IT or Telecom environment. Experience working with cross-cultural and multi-location teams (India–Japan coordination preferred). Technical Knowledge: Understanding of Telecom fundamentals (4G/5G Core) and basic IT concepts (software development lifecycle, network systems, testing). Ability to interpret technical content accurately and confidently in discussions with engineers and managers. Tools: Familiarity with MS Office, translation tools (Trados, MemoQ, etc.), and collaboration platforms (Teams, Zoom, Jira, Confluence). Preferred Qualifications Previous experience in Telecom software or network projects involving Japanese clients. Basic knowledge of project management and documentation standards.
