Data Center Engineering Operations Manager, Infraops

DESCRIPTIONAmazon is expanding the Data Center management team in India This position within Amazon Data Services India Private Limited ADSIPL requires broad Data Center knowledge with Subject Matter Expertise SME in as many specific fields as possible The location for this job to be discussed as there may be opportunities in several India locations This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India This position will provide a central point of ownership and accountability for the overall hands-on management of the Mechanical Electrical M E and across ADSIPL s portfolio of Data Centers in India This position will be responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations within the Indian Data Center space It will also include event management incident management problem management change management and cost contract management In addition this will include the relationship management with the landlords critical facility vendors Data Center Construction team Data Center Operations team Technical Program Managers Security team and Logistics team in India The position will require 24x7 on-call scheduled weekend work support and managing rotational shift RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the on-site management of shift engineers senior shift technicians chief engineer sub-contractors and vendors ensuring that all work performed is in accordance with established practices and procedures xc2 xb7 Has primary responsibility for availability zone of Data Centers 2-4 locations xc2 xb7 Participates in strategic planning projects xc2 xb7 Conducts financial analysis and contributes to financial decisions xc2 xb7 Typically manages 5 or more direct reports xc2 xb7 Negotiates and rolls out contracts and space xc2 xb7 May oversee the build out of Facility-specific infrastructure in existing locations xc2 xb7 Participates in recruiting efforts Continually raises the bar xc2 xb7 Is active in the training and or development of others xc2 xb7 Executes vision and goals for the team or department xc2 xb7 Will conduct Project Management for multiple sites xc2 xb7 May participate in training of staff xc2 xb7 Draws from a deep group or department level understanding to make business decisions xc2 xb7 Uses business knowledge to set priorities and develop project plans xc2 xb7 Has a deep understanding of best practices in their area of expertise and ensures their application xc2 xb7 Strong verbal and written communication skills variety of critical systems such as switchgear generators UPS systems power distribution equipment chillers computer room air handlers building monitoring systems etc xc2 xb7 May assist in the design and build out of new facilities xc2 xb7 May assist in projects to increase current facility efficiency xc2 xb7 Responsible for asset and inventory management xc2 xb7 Assist in recruiting efforts xc2 xb7 Deliver quality service and ensure all customer demands are met BASIC QUALIFICATIONS xc2 xb7 An engineering degree or equivalent in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline xc2 xb7 10 years of relevant engineering experience managing large scale services xc2 xb7 At least 3 years building strong successful technical teams in a similar culture xc2 xb7 High degree of organization and detail-orientation xc2 xb7 Excellent written and verbal communications skills xc2 xb7 Proven track record of success in delivering complex projects xc2 xb7 Prior ownership of the operation of a
