Job Description

The Turbine DCS Operator will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the turbine and its associated auxiliaries from the Distributed Control System (DCS) console. This critical role involves continuous monitoring of plant parameters, responding to alarms, making operational adjustments, and coordinating with field operators to ensure optimal performance and adherence to all safety and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of power plant operations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

- DCS Operation & Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor and control the turbine, generator, and associated auxiliary systems (e.g., lube oil, cooling water, governing, vacuum systems) from the DCS console.
- Observe all critical plant parameters, trends, and alarms to detect deviations from normal operating conditions.
- Initiate turbine start-up, shutdown, and load changes as per operational procedures and grid demand.
- Maintain optimal operating parameters to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshooting & Anomaly Response:
- Respond promptly and effectively to all alarms and abnormal operating conditions, initiating corrective actions from the DCS or coordinating with field operators.
- Diagnose operational problems by analyzing DCS data and trends, identifying root causes of issues.
- Implement emergency operating procedures in response to plant upsets or trips to ensure personnel and equipment safety.
- Coordination & Communication:
- Communicate clearly and effectively with field operators, shift engineers, and other control room personnel regarding plant status, operational changes, and emergencies.
- Coordinate isolation, de-isolation, and permit-to-work activities for maintenance operations, ensuring system safety.
- Provide timely and accurate updates on plant status and operational events.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate operational logs, shift reports, and incident reports.
- Document all operational changes, alarms, and corrective actions taken.
- Prepare daily/weekly operational summaries and performance reports.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency operating procedures (EOPs).
- Participate in safety drills and training programs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements and efficiency enhancements.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance operational skills and knowledge of new technologies.
