Position Ophthalmic Assistant Project Mobile Medical Unit MMU - Assam Location Dibrugarh Assam Mobile Rural Tea Garden areas Reports To Cluster Project Manager Medical Officer MMU Role Summary The Ophthalmic Assistant will be responsible for delivering primary eye care services in Mobile Medical Units MMUs operating in underserved areas of Assam The role involves assisting in eye examinations conducting preliminary diagnostic tests managing ophthalmic equipment supporting the Medical Officer during clinical activities and creating awareness on preventive eye health within the community Key Responsibilities Conduct preliminary eye examinations such as visual acuity refraction tonometry and color vision tests Support the Medical Officer in diagnosing and treating eye-related conditions Assist during minor ophthalmic procedures and provide pre- and post-procedure patient care Counsel patients on prescribed treatments use of spectacles medications and follow-up care Equipment Record Management Operate maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments in the MMU Ensure availability and safe handling of diagnostic kits and consumables Maintain accurate patient records test results and daily service reports Community Outreach Education Participate in health awareness activities eye camps and preventive eye care campaigns in the community Provide health education to patients on eye hygiene and prevention of common eye diseases Coordinate with community workers to identify and refer patients requiring higher-level eye care Team Collaboration Work closely with Medical Officer Pharmacist Lab Technician GNM and Driver to ensure smooth functioning of MMU Support administrative tasks as guided by the Cluster Project Manager Uphold patient confidentiality and ethical standards of healthcare delivery Qualifications Skills Educational Qualification Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistance Ophthalmic Technology from a recognized institute Experience Freshers may apply prior experience in ophthalmic services will be an added advantage Skills o Proficiency in basic ophthalmic tests and equipment handling o Good communication and patient counseling abilities o Willingness to travel and work in rural remote locations o Strong team orientation and adaptability Work Environment Based in Mobile Medical Units delivering services directly in rural tea garden and hard-to-reach communities Requires flexibility frequent field visits and ability to work in challenging environments Job Type Full-time Pay 14 000 00 - 20 000 00 per month Work Location In person
