Daimler Truck is hiring Transmission Housing Design Engineer.. Short Description - Position: Gearbox Housing Design Engineer (T8); - Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automotive, or Production; - Experience: Min. 6 years in automotive eAxle or transmission gearbox housing design; Responsibilities: Design gearbox housings considering functional, durability, and manufacturing requirements (HPDC/LPDC/Sand Casting). Collaborate with cross functional teams & develop gearbox components with cast suppliers. Support in design of gears, shafts. tubes and sheet metal brackets. Skills: Expertise in housing design, GD&T, drawing specifications, Siemens NX, PLM (SMARAGD/Teamcenter). Basic knowledge of transmission components and CAE simulation. Tool & die experience and German language skills are a plus. Responsibilities WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT - Design of complex housings based on functional, durability & manufacturing requirements (HPDC / LPDC & Sand Castings) and development of housing with cast suppliers. - Design of Transmission components (Gears, Shafts, Casting, forging, Sheet metal components). - Design of eAxle components (Gears, Shafts, Casting, forging, Sheet metal components). - Design of plastic/steel tubes, support brackets etc for gearbox peripheral components. Qualifications THAT’S WHY YOU ARE A MATCH Domain: Gearbox/Transmission Design (Housings) Education: B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/ Automotive/ Production (Casting foundry) Overall Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience (Automotive Experience: minimum 5 years in OEM or Tier 1) Subject Knowledge: - Knowledge & experience in designing of complex housings based on functional, durability & manufacturing requirements (HPDC / LPDC & Sand Castings) and development of gearbox housing with cast suppliers. - Knowledge & experience in design of Transmission components (Gears, Shafts, bearings ; Casting, forging, Sheet metal components). - Design of plastic/steel tubes, support brackets etc. - Knowledge of GD&T and drawing specifications especially for the housing design. - Knowledge of CAE simulation (especially structural static load, cast material flow) and validation will be an added advantage. Modeling Software: Siemens NX 5 years minimum OR Catia / Pro-E experience of 7 years minimum (Modules: Solid Modelling, Sheet Metal, Tubing/Mechanical routing, Drafting, CAE (Structural)) PLM tool: Experience in Siemens Teamcenter or similar Languages: - English (fluent verbal and written) - German language (Basic conversational skills) will be an added advantage. Supporting experience/ Tools/ Techniques/ Soft Skills: - Independent handling of Design responsibility of any automotive housing component, preferably with OEM or Tier 1 cast supplier - Hands-on experience in tool & die making will be an added advantage - Good knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T). - Stakeholder Management & Interacting with suppliers to explain the design intent and understand the manufacturing limitations , Aware of QMS requirements. - Capable of understanding Lifecycle management of automotive parts giving interim and long-term solutions related to Transmission components. - Technical expertise in component design and field failure management - Well versed with MS Office (Excel, Power Point), Agile, Co-creative but self-standing - Able to present the team in-group meetings, preparing Minutes of Meeting, Task Prioritizing, straightforward communication with flexible approach. - Assertive and good listener - Ability to grasp changing scenarios and adjust priorities accordingly
