Daimler Truck is hiring Transmission Housing Design Engineer..Short DescriptionPosition: Gearbox Housing Design Engineer (T8);Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Automotive, or Production;Experience: Min. 6 years in automotive eAxle or transmission gearbox housing design; Responsibilities:Design gearbox housings considering functional, durability, and manufacturing requirements (HPDC/LPDC/Sand Casting). Collaborate with cross functional teams & develop gearbox components with cast suppliers. Support in design of gears, shafts. tubes and sheet metal brackets.Skills:Expertise in housing design, GD&T, drawing specifications, Siemens NX, PLM (SMARAGD/Teamcenter). Basic knowledge of transmission components and CAE simulation. Tool & die experience and German language skills are a plus. Responsibilities WHAT YOU CAN EXPECTDesign of complex housings based on functional, durability & manufacturing requirements (HPDC / LPDC & Sand Castings) and development of housing with cast suppliers.Design of Transmission components (Gears, Shafts, Casting, forging, Sheet metal components).Design of eAxle components (Gears, Shafts, Casting, forging, Sheet metal components).Design of plastic/steel tubes, support brackets etc for gearbox peripheral components.QualificationsTHAT’S WHY YOU ARE A MATCH Domain: Gearbox/Transmission Design (Housings)Education: B.E./B. Tech in Mechanical/ Automotive/ Production (Casting foundry) Overall Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience (Automotive Experience: minimum 5 years in OEM or Tier 1) Subject Knowledge:Knowledge & experience in designing of complex housings based on functional, durability & manufacturing requirements (HPDC / LPDC & Sand Castings) and development of gearbox housing with cast suppliers.Knowledge & experience in design of Transmission components (Gears, Shafts, bearings ; Casting, forging, Sheet metal components).Design of plastic/steel tubes, support brackets etc.Knowledge of GD&T and drawing specifications especially for the housing design.Knowledge of CAE simulation (especially structural static load, cast material flow) and validation will be an added advantage.Modeling Software: Siemens NX 5 years minimum OR Catia / Pro-E experience of 7 years minimum (Modules: Solid Modelling, Sheet Metal, Tubing/Mechanical routing, Drafting, CAE (Structural)) PLM tool: Experience in Siemens Teamcenter or similarLanguages:English (fluent verbal and written)German language (Basic conversational skills) will be an added advantage. Supporting experience/ Tools/ Techniques/ Soft Skills:Independent handling of Design responsibility of any automotive housing component, preferably with OEM or Tier 1 cast supplierHands-on experience in tool & die making will be an added advantageGood knowledge of Geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).Stakeholder Management & Interacting with suppliers to explain the design intent and understand the manufacturing limitations , Aware of QMS requirements.Capable of understanding Lifecycle management of automotive parts giving interim and long-term solutions related to Transmission components.Technical expertise in component design and field failure managementWell versed with MS Office (Excel, Power Point), Agile, Co-creative but self-standingAble to present the team in-group meetings, preparing Minutes of Meeting, Task Prioritizing, straightforward communication with flexible approach.Assertive and good listenerAbility to grasp changing scenarios and adjust priorities accordingly
