Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Purchasing Officer, located in Ahmedabad. Key responsibilities include maintaining supplier relationships, managing purchase orders, monitoring inventory, analyzing market trends and collaborating with R&D, quality control to support new product development and achieve financial targets, ensure timely delivery of goods, and handle any issues that arise with orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Supplier Management : Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with new and existing suppliers to secure high-quality, cost-effective raw materials, ingredients, and packaging.
- Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with vendors to meet the company's financial goals and optimize procurement costs.
- Procurement Process: Manage the entire buying process, including creating and monitoring purchase orders and ensuring proper documentation.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels, forecast supply and demand, and ensure adequate stock to avoid stockouts or overstocking.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Production, customer sales/customer support, warehouse and logistics and Quality Control teams to understand product requirements, and address operational issues.
- Market Analysis: Analyze market trends, supplier performance, and the competitive landscape to identify continuous improvement opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
- Data & Reporting: Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other important data, and prepare information for budgeting and financial forecasting
Skill & Qualifications
- Experience in Purchasing Processes, Purchase Orders, and Purchase Requisitions, Strong knowledge of fragrances, raw materials, manufacturing processes, and market dynamics
- Proven Proven ability to negotiate with vendors for optimal pricing and terms.
- Ability to analyze market trends, inventory data, and vendor performance to make informed purchasing decisions
- Strong collaboration and influencing skills to work effectively with internal teams and external suppliers
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Experience: 1-3 years of procurement or buying experience, preferably within the fragrance, cosmetics, or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industries, manufacturing industry is a must and preferably from Ahmedabad
- Education: Bachelor's degree/Masters in Chemistry or related field, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- Proficiency in ERP systems (like SAP) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
