Principal Technical Product Manager

Job Description Sabre Payments is looking for an experienced product manager to optimise and help us grow our payment acceptance capabilities. In this role you will be responsible for delivering on Sabre core payment acceptance and experience strategy that enable travel merchants across airlines, hotel and travel agencies to securely and seamlessly collect payments across digital and in-person channels. This would be a fantastic opportunity to take on a highly visible role that is at global scale, collaborate with teams that are on a mission to evolve the travel IT and distribution industry, and manage all aspects of product development from discovery to go-to-market activities. Role Responsibilities Strategy and Leadership - Build a vision for developer-first payment platform that enables seamless payments integration - Define and execute the product roadmap for embedded payments acceptance API and infrastructure - Drive innovation in API design, developer experience, and embedded payment capabilities - Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to prioritize API features and platform capabilities. API Product & Platform Development - Lead the design and development of payment APIs that are intuitive, well-documented, and developer friendly - Oversee the creation of SDKs and client libraries across multiple programming languages - Drive the development of sandbox environments and testing tools for developers - Ensure API performance, reliability, and scalability Development Experience & Enablement - Own the end-to-end developer journey from discovery to successful payment integration - Lead the creation of comprehensive API documentation, integration guides, and code examples - Create and maintain technical content including tutorials, best practices, integration patterns. System and Customer Integration - Enable Sabre systems, partners and travel merchants to embed payment acceptance into their platforms, marketplaces and booking channels and POS - Design solutions for different models: platform payments, marketplace distribution and direct offer order channels - Support complex payment flows including multi-payment payments, delayed capture and refund handling - Build capabilities to manage multiple merchants of records and facilitate payment acceptance at scale - Provide technical guidance and support for strategic merchants and partners - Create embedded UI components and pre-built checkout experiences merchants and partners can customise Technical Leadership and Architecture - Design scalable, resilient API infrastructure and define technical standards for API design, error handling, rate limiting and webhook delivery - Lead the architecture of payment abstraction layer that normalises different processor capabilities - Build real-time payment notifications and webhook systems with guaranteed delivery - Ensure API platform and partner integration comply with PCI-DSS requirements Global Payments Capabilities and Value-Added Services - Work with Fintech hub product team to enable partners to accept payments across multiple currencies and regulations via unified API - Abstract regional complexity so partners can expand internationally with minimal integration flow - Optimise acceptance rates for different regions and payment methods - Design API that handles time zones, currency and localization challenges Payment Operations And Optimisation - Oversee the performance of payment acceptance systems, monitoring key metrics including authorisation and decline rates, conversion rates and payment failure rates - Identify and implement solutions to improve customer payment experience, conversion and payments success rates - Partner with relevant teams to optimise payment performance and optimize payment flows About You - 4+ years in principle-level role focused on payment API, embedded payments, or platform development - Proven track record of building and scaling developer-facing payment API or infrastructure products - Expert-level understanding of payment processing flows, authorisation, settlement and reconciliation - Strong technical background in API infrastructure, webhooks, authentication and security - Knowledge of API management, versioning strategies, testing frameworks and strategies - Understanding of different integration patterns: direct API, hosted checkout, embedded UI components, mobile SDK - Experience with payment tokenisation, PCI compliance and secure data handling - Experience with modern payment technologies - Knowledge of distributed systems, microservice architecture, and cloud infrastructure - Platform thinking with ability to design products that serve different use cases and integration patters - Strategic communication with ability to influence technical and business stakeholders at all levels - Project management capabilities delivering complex, cross-functional platform initiatives
