Purchasing Specialist/Assistant

Work Location - Trivandrum, Kerala, India

Work from Office

- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on pharmacy or medical assistant.
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmacist, medical assistance, or pharmaceutical quality experience. Experience with purchasing is a plus

This role will be primarily responsible for understanding scale requirements for medicines and making the appropriate determination for which product satisfies the regulatory requirements. To do so, this person will cross-check medScale’s records against public authority publications on a periodic basis ensuring Unimed’s portfolio stays current with all regulatory requirements. This person will evaluate product requests and provide recommendations or adjustments to the MedScale team and will ensure that the proper SAP codes are used.

- This role acts as a key partner between the commercial and purchasing organization.
- Reviews public authority regulations and makes determinations on most appropriate medicines and supplies to be compliant
- Communicates with medScale team to adjust SAP to use the appropriate SKU
- Communicates effectively with the commercial organization to ensure appropriate SKUs are quoted and ordered. Makes recommendations for alternatives as required
- Proactively works with the rest of the purchasing organization to ensure adequate supplies in the event of changes to scale requirements
- Identifies alternate sources of supply for quality and cost effectiveness.
- Assists in coordinating scale purchases across assigned regions, ensuring bundling of spend to optimize buying leverage for the company.
- Ensures that the organization understands and complies with the appropriate corporate policies and processes as they related to procurement transactions.

Skills/Background Required:

- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on pharmacy or medical assistant.
- Minimum of 2 years of pharmacist, medical assistance, or pharmaceutical quality experience. Experience with purchasing is a plus
- Good global knowledge of medicines and health care related consumables
- Good understanding of Maritime Medical Regulations
- 3+ years Pharma or Maritime industry experience a plus
- Good knowledge of English and good communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and protocols
- Good organizational skills
- Excellent proficiency with MS Excel
- Strong attention to detail
- Adaptable to dynamic and continuous training
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Regulatory Compliance Awareness – Understanding of public authority regulations and their impact on pharmaceutical products.
- Pharmaceutical & Medical Knowledge – Familiarity with medicines, healthcare consumables, and their regulatory requirements.
