What the Client Is NOT Looking For ❌ Pure Data Analyst ❌ Pure SQL Developer ❌ Power BI–only profile ❌ Junior data roles without governance ownership Core Profile the Client Wants 1. Strong Data Governance Experience (Mandatory) The candidate should have: Hands-on experience in Data Governance & Data Quality frameworks Experience creating a governance roadmap Defining and tracking: KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) KRIs (Key Risk Indicators) Implementing data controls , validations, and monitoring mechanisms Understanding of: Data ownership Data lineage Data standards Data quality rules Client expects someone who can lead governance efforts , not just support them. 2. Advanced SQL Skills (Must-Have) Ability to write complex SQL queries Use SQL for: Data profiling Data quality checks Root cause analysis Data validation SQL is required to support governance decisions with data , not just reporting. SQL is a hands-on requirement , not optional. 3. Strong Stakeholder & Business Interaction The candidate must: Work closely with business, risk, compliance, and tech teams Translate business requirements → functional → technical requirements Drive consensus across teams Partner with divisions focusing on end-client value Client wants someone who can sit between business and technology confidently. 4. Banking / Regulatory Knowledge (Good to Have) Nice-to-have (not mandatory): Experience in Consumer Banking Cards Loans Familiarity with Fed Reporting (FRY-14) requirements Exposure to regulatory data governance is a big plus Strong advantage if candidate has banking or regulatory reporting exposure . 5. Professional & Communication Skills The client values: Strong written and verbal communication Attention to detail Analytical thinking Comfort with: Excel / spreadsheets Presentations Dashboards This role involves presenting findings and governance metrics to stakeholders.
