Job Summary:
Dayananda Sagar University (DSU), a premier institution in higher education, is seeking a dynamic and seasoned HR Manager with a strong background in educational institutions. The ideal candidate will lead the HR function strategically, overseeing recruitment, faculty & staff development, statutory compliance, employee relations, and performance management while aligning HR practices with the university's vision for academic excellence and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Leadership
- Develop and execute HR strategies in alignment with the university's academic mission and strategic goals.
- Advise senior leadership on workforce planning, succession, and organizational development.
- Create and implement HR policies tailored to higher education standards and UGC/AICTE norms.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
- Oversee the recruitment of faculty, administrative staff, and leadership positions in compliance with statutory and accreditation requirements.
- Develop hiring practices to attract top academic and administrative talent.
- Lead campus placement and internship program support, collaborating with the placement cell where needed.
Faculty and Staff Development
- Design and manage faculty development programs, leadership training, and continuous professional development (CPD) initiatives.
- Facilitate performance evaluations in line with academic KPIs and NAAC/NBA accreditation standards.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Foster a positive work culture through employee engagement programs and grievance redressal mechanisms.
- Act as a key point of contact for employee concerns, promoting transparent communication.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, university statutes, UGC/AICTE guidelines, and other relevant regulations.
- Manage service books, contracts, leave, payroll interface, PF/ESI, and statutory audits.
HR Operations & Systems
- Implement and manage HRIS systems, digitize personnel records, and automate workflows for efficiency.
- Oversee compensation and benefits planning, salary structuring, and annual increment cycles.
Policy Formulation & Review
- Draft and periodically revise HR manuals, service rules, and disciplinary procedures.
- Ensure all HR policies are communicated, understood, and consistently enforced across departments.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Master's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 15+ years of progressive HR experience, exclusively in the higher education sector.
- Strong understanding of university operations, academic structures, and statutory obligations.
- In-depth knowledge of UGC, AICTE, NAAC, and other regulatory body norms.
- Proven experience in managing faculty recruitment, service rules, academic audits, and compliance.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Proficient in HRMS tools, payroll software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Attributes:
- Exposure to institutional accreditation processes (NAAC/NBA/NIRF).
- Experience in change management or digital HR transformation in education.
- Ability to build rapport with academic leadership and teaching/non-teaching staff.
- Commitment to ethical practices, confidentiality, and institutional values.
Work Environment:
- Full-time position based at the Dayananda Sagar University main campus in Bangalore.
- Occasional travel to affiliated campuses and regulatory bodies may be required.
