About Position: As a Senior Principal Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, maintenance, and optimization of complex systems environments, ensuring maximum efficiency, reliability, and performance. You'll take charge of daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and enhancing backup systems across diverse platforms, driving continual innovation, and collaborating on technical advancements within the infrastructure. - Role: Senior Principal Systems Administrator - Location: Pune - Experience: 12 to 14 Years - Job Type: Full Time Employment What You'll Do: - Proven experience (5-8 years) in Linux System Administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. - In-depth knowledge of various Linux distributions (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu). - Expertise in shell scripting (Bash, Python) for automation and system management. - Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls). - Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, KVM). - Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. - Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana). - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Advanced experience supporting VMWare vSphere and high-end storage hardware (NetApp, HPe, Nimble preferred). - Hands-on experience in managing SMTP, Samba, and NIS applications. - Advanced scripting skills (Perl, Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.). - Extensive knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux with preference for Red Hat Certification (RHCE). - Proven track record in Windows server environments (2022/2019/2016). - Strong expertise in Backup and storage products like Commvault & Cloud based applications. - Experience in writing Technical Documentation and Standard Operating Procedures Expertise You'll Bring: - Install, configure, and maintain Linux-based servers and systems. - Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability. - Implement and manage system security measures, including patching and vulnerability management. - Develop and maintain scripts for automation of routine tasks. - Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls. - Ensure adherence to the SLA. - Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures. - Collaborate with development and operations teams to support applications and services. - Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps. - Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support. - Stay up-to-date with new technologies and industry best practices in Linux system administration. - Architectural Design and Maintenance: - Lead in designing, maintaining, and extensively documenting intricate systems environments. - Execute ongoing system performance assessments and optimizations to achieve peak efficiency. - Disaster Recovery and Data Protection: - Oversight of both our Disaster Recovery and Data Protection program - Assess and enhance reliability and performance of our Data Protection application(s) - Review and recommend program enhancement - Compliance and Auditing: - Provide substantiation for annual external and internal audit requirements. - Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, and procedures align with organizational values and compliance standards. - Performance Optimization and Maintenance: - Engage in ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. - Contribute to OS patch management and coordination to ensure system integrity. - Minimum of 10+ years of comprehensive technical experience in the following areas - UNIX Systems Administration - Storage Administration - Virtualization - Enterprise Architecture and Design Benefits: - Competitive salary and benefits package - Culture focused on talent development with quarterly growth opportunities and company-sponsored higher education and certifications - Opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies - Employee engagement initiatives such as project parties, flexible work hours, and Long Service awards - Annual health check-ups - Insurance coverage: group term life, personal accident, and Mediclaim hospitalization for self, spouse, two children, and parents Values-Driven, People-Centric & Inclusive Work Environment: Persistent Ltd. is dedicated to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
