Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) 1

**Main purpose of job**:
Provide support for the Senior Intellectual Property Attache by;- Shadowing the IP attaché to understand their role
- Responding to enquiries signposting available support for UK businesses on IP in India
- Preparing notes and reports on meetings and projects and conducting administrative tasks supporting the IP attache
- Supporting the activities of the Trade Policy Team at BHC Delhi
- We reserve the right to review, revise or amend the roles and responsibilities from time to time reflecting the changing needs of business._

**Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?**:
At the end of the Internship the post holder will;- Understand the importance of providing IP support for UK businesses trading, or wishing to trade in India
- Understand the cross government work of the UK in delivering business support (FCDO / DIT / BEIS)
- Understand the work across government, industry and academia carried out by the IP attache
- Prepare notes, minutes and documents in support of the above
- Be able to confidently explain the ambitions of the UK government, the IPO of the UK and the Trade Policy Team BHC Delhi
- Have a working knowledge of the UK trade teams based across India

**Working patterns**:
The IP Attache works flexibly, and the Intern would be guided by the attache as to attendance at the High Commission.

**Any other information (or specific local Post requirements)**:
Some travel in India may be necessary in support of the attache. The occasional overnight stay may also be required.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience 1
- Qualified to degree level (at least Bachelor’s) in law;
- At least have 1-2 years of experience in providing IP support.

**Language requirements**:
Language: The ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing is essential

Level of language required: High level of understanding and knowledge

Desirable qualifications, skills and experience 1
- Postgraduate research experience in intellectual property
- Required behaviours 1- Communicating and Influencing, Managing a Quality Service, Seeing the Big Picture, Working Together Application deadline 1

**Please note** - BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g., some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
