**Job Title: Medical Secretary**

**Job Summary**:
**Responsibilities**:

- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer phone calls, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Schedule appointments for patients and coordinate with medical staff to ensure efficient scheduling.
- Maintain patient records accurately and ensure compliance with confidentiality regulations.
- Assist patients with completing necessary forms and paperwork.
- Handle billing and insurance claims, including verifying insurance coverage and processing payments.
- Coordinate referrals to other healthcare providers as necessary.
- Manage office inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Assist medical staff with administrative tasks such as typing correspondence, drafting reports, and filing documents.
- Ensure the waiting area is clean, organized, and stocked with reading materials.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and other regulations related to patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with other administrative staff and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operation of the office.

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or certification in medical office administration is preferred.
- Proven experience working as a medical secretary or in a similar administrative role within a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and billing practices.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Customer service-oriented with a professional demeanor.
- Willingness to adapt to changing responsibilities and learn new skills as needed.
