**Position Description - IT SYSTEMS SPECIALIST**

This position reports to the Region Infrastructure Manager within the corporate CS&T organization.

**3. Objective / Purpose of Job**

As a member of the CS&T (_communication, security, and technology_) organisation the primary purpose of the **IT Systems Specialist** is to support and resolve all Infrastructure related issues and requests assigned, using a combination of phone-based support, desk-side assistance, and remote-control software.

The IT Systems Specialist is also responsible for managing and tracking all desktop hardware and software in the company, including software licencing and asset tracking.

To ensure team effectiveness is maintained when staff are away the IT Systems Specialist is required to provide backup support and coverage to fellow team members both locally and globally.

**4. Specific Accountabilities (roles and responsibilities)**
- Provide 1st and 2nd level Help Desk Support for all systems related incidents and problems.
- Install, configure, and maintain desktop, server and networking equipment and server and network operating systems.
- Proactively monitor the IT environment for issues using the monitoring tools available.
- Provide training and support for system software.
- Ensure IT procedures for system back-ups, establishing new user accounts, monitoring file access, IT security, change management etc are strictly adhered to.
- Ensure the hardware and software inventory correctly accounts for the number and location of ALL assets.
- Assist in maintenance and upgrades for system software and hardware (desktop and server).
- Assist in recovery action plans in the event of a system failure.
- Support the global IT strategic plan for the CS&T organization.
- Maintain and revise IT documentation where directed.
- Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times and that the appropriate safety regulations and policies are complied with.
- Any other related tasks as directed by the Manager.

**5. Educational and / or Training Qualifications & Certificates**
- Tertiary education or equivalent experience
- Microsoft Certification or equivalent experience
- ITL v4 Foundation

**6. Experience and Knowledge**
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in an IT Support role, Helpdesk or similar role,
- Experience in the administration and support of Microsoft windows desktop technologies
- Experience and knowledge of antivirus packages
- Experience in backup and recovery procedures
- Experience and Knowledge of communications, firewall and VPN technologies
- Knowledge of Applications Servers, MS SQL Server, IIS
- Help desk experience - with a good customer focus

**7. Technical / Functional Skills / Any other requirements**
- Possess strong customer service skills treating all employees with the same courtesy and professionalism. Able to liaise with users at their level of technical competence
- Able to interpret and prioritize user needs
- Able to manage time efficiently
- Ability to manage multiple projects, activities and tasks simultaneously
- Highly developed English verbal and written communications
