- Staff training: Training staff on food preparation, cooking, and handling
- Customer relations: Maintaining good customer relationships
- Food science and nutrition: Having knowledge of food science and nutrition
- Presentation: Presenting food in an eye-appealing way
- Budgeting: Ensuring labor and food costs are kept within budget
- Accident prevention: Developing an accident prevention program to keep everyone safe
