Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA cum Developer with strong expertise in managing, developing, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in Linux / openSUSE environments . The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with advanced PostgreSQL tools such as TimescaleDB and PostgreSQL toolkits , ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability of critical database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and manage PostgreSQL databases in Linux/openSUSE environments.
  • Design, develop, and optimize database schemas, queries, functions, and stored procedures .
  • Implement TimescaleDB for handling time-series data and ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilize PostgreSQL toolkits and extensions for monitoring, optimization, and automation.
  • Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies .
  • Ensure database security, backup, recovery, and high availability (HA/DR) strategies .
  • Monitor and troubleshoot database performance and replication issues .
  • Collaborate with application developers for efficient database design and integration.
  • Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patch management .
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, SOPs, and technical guides .

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA and Developer.
  • Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration & development .
  • Proficiency in working on Linux/openSUSE environments .
  • Hands-on experience with TimescaleDB for time-series data management.
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL toolkits and extensions for monitoring and optimization.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and partitioning .
  • Strong knowledge of backup & recovery tools, replication, and clustering .
  • Familiarity with scripting (Shell/Python) for automation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good to Have:

  • Exposure to cloud environments (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL) .
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for databases .
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana.
