They collaborate with various professionals, such as contractors, architects, and government agencies, and must have strong project management, communication, and technical skills.  Core responsibilities Planning and design: Creating plans and designs for projects, which includes using computer-aided design (CAD) software and analyzing site data like soil composition and terrain. Project management: Overseeing project timelines, budgets, and resources. This also includes managing construction progress and resolving issues as they arise. Construction oversight: Supervising construction activities on-site to ensure work is completed according to the designs, specifications, and safety standards. Site investigation: Conducting feasibility studies and site investigations to gather data for project planning. Compliance and safety: Ensuring all projects meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as environmental and safety standards. Documentation: Preparing engineering reports, blueprints, and construction documents. Maintenance and repairs: Planning and overseeing the maintenance and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure.  Essential skills Project management Problem-solving Technical and design software skills Communication and collaboration Risk assessment Budget management  Requirements Conducting surveys and gathering data for land development and construction projects. Designing and setting up survey systems, including total stations and GPS receivers. Performing calculations and analyzing data to produce accurate survey reports.
