Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Database migration Migration Lead with expertise in managing complex migration projects to SQL server involving large volumes of data and intricate stored procedures. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the migration effort, leveraging SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and other tools to ensure a seamless transition from Sybase IQ to SQL Server. This role requires strong technical proficiency, project management skills, and a proven track record of successfully executing migration projects in similar environments.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end migration project from Sybase IQ to SQL Server, including planning, execution, and post-migration support.
  • Assess and analyze the existing Sybase IQ database environment, identifying migration requirements, challenges, and dependencies, particularly related to complex stored procedures and large datasets.
  • Develop a comprehensive migration strategy and roadmap, taking into account the unique characteristics of the database environment and business objectives.
  • Customize and optimize SQL Server Migration Assistant (SSMA) and other migration tools to handle the migration of complex stored procedures and efficiently transfer large volumes of data.
  • Coordinate with database administrators, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals, timelines, and quality standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the migration team, including troubleshooting complex migration issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring data integrity throughout the migration process.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to provision and optimize the target SQL Server environment for the migrated database, addressing scalability, performance, and security requirements.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans to validate the migrated database environment, including stress testing, data validation, and performance tuning.
  • Document migration processes, procedures, and outcomes, capturing lessons learned and best practices for future migrations.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on migration progress, risks, and issues, and escalating as needed to ensure project success.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in database administration, migration project management, and SQL database technologies, with a focus on complex migration projects.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL Server database platforms, with hands-on experience in database design, optimization, and administration.
  • Proven track record of leading and executing complex database migration projects involving large volumes of data and intricate stored procedures, with at least 2 migration projects experience.
