Job Description:
The Manager of PCB Assembly will be responsible for the overall setup, commissioning, and management of a PCB Assembly line and facility. This role includes overseeing the installation of equipment, staffing, implementing production processes, and ensuring the factory operates efficiently to meet quality, cost, and delivery standards. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in PCB manufacturing and assembly processes and a proven track record in managing factory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Factory Setup & Commissioning:- Lead the end-to-end setup of the PCB assembly factory, including layout planning, equipment selection, and installation.- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for facility setup and equipment procurement.- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations during the setup phase.- Operational Management:- Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands.- Manage the assembly process, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), through-hole assembly, soldering, and testing.- Set up standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the production line and ensure adherence to quality control measures (ISO, IPC standards).- Establish KPIs and continuously monitor factory performance to optimize efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve yields.- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase factory performance, including lean manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma techniques.- Team Leadership:- Hire, train, and lead a team of production, engineering, quality, and maintenance staff.- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration within the factory.- Provide ongoing training and development for team members, ensuring they stay updated on best practices and technologies in PCB assembly.- Quality & Compliance:- Ensure product quality meets customer specifications and industry standards.- Implement and oversee quality assurance and control processes, including IPC-A-610 compliance and ESD management.- Ensure the factory operates following environmental and safety regulations.- Cost Control & Reporting:- Manage the operational budget, control costs, and seek efficiencies to reduce production costs.- Maintain records of production outputs, downtime, and maintenance activities.- Report to senior management regularly on factory performance, production outputs, and key metrics.- Customer Relations:- Could you collaborate with the sales and engineering teams to align factory operations with customer expectations?- Support customer audits and resolve any production-related issues affecting customer orders.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree in business management is a plus.- Experience: 8+ years of experience in PCB assembly, with at least three years in a managerial role setting up or managing a PCB assembly facility.- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of PCB assembly processes (SMT, through-hole, wave soldering, AOI, reflow), equipment, and relevant quality standards (IPC-A-610, ISO).- Management Skills: Proven leadership in managing factory operations, including production planning, staff management, and budget control.- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve production issues on time.- Communication: Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.- Certifications: IPC-A-610 certification or Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing certifications are desirable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing a new factory setup from scratch.- Familiarity with ERP systems for production management and inventory control.- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.- Ability to manage complex projects and lead cross-functional teams.
