Business Development Manager

As Business Development Manager, you will participate in and lead assigned projects to identify potential clients, initiate engagement, develop relationships and close deals. This will require proven business acumen, and preferably the ability to use your knowledge of industry structures (and existing networks) to engage with potential customers and OEM’s as a technology provider. You will co-ordinate the compilation of product offerings / solutions and lead the engagements that that require pitching to design engineers, client upper management and technical due diligences and trials. It will also require final quality and supply agreement negotiations, and working with other senior leaders on an implementation solution to ensure supply. With strong interpersonal, presentation, technical and problem solving skills, you will be able to persuade and influence others; and cultivate relationships that will ultimately lead to business growth, sales turnover, and customer satisfaction.
- Drive the growth strategy targeting existing and new market segments and identify promising new customer opportunities
- Proactively investigate market segment, evaluate and prioritise opportunities.
- Proactively lead the scoping and commercial offering of the technical solution required to address customer requirements, met and unmet needs, and recommend solutions that optimise value for both the customer and our company
- Lead product trial engagement projects and due diligence with new customers
- Lead assigned commercial contracting
- Participate in the expansion plans and implementation plans to supply OEMs
- Design and deliver proposals and participate in technical and non-technical meetings
- Become a subject matter expert on the product line
- Ensure client solutions match their required commercial and operational standards and anticipate the value and pricing impact of our business decisions on our client’s operations
- Identify and create future opportunities by assessing business trends in the sectors
- Maintain Market Awareness including market share and develop the sales/tender opportunity pipeline with a 12 month+ horizon.
Requirements 5+ years successful commercial experience for an energy sector
organisation, and is able to combine commercial and legal requirements to achieve excellent results.
- A Business Degree (an MBA will be a definite advantage) or,
- A completed relevant technical degree
- Experience in tender solutions design and costing models
- Large bandwidth and adaptability to changing circumstances and business needs
- Business acumen as is related to an industrial machinery market segment, preferably electric machinery or industrial motive machinery
- Willing to undertake frequent national travel
- Project Management toolbox
- The ability to lead commercial discussions at client executive level
Requirements
