Position: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Department : Mechanical Job Location : Pune Experience : 8-15 years Plumbing Design/BIM HVAC Design/BIM Firefighting Systems Design/BIM You can also drop your CV Job Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Plumbing, HVAC, and Firefighting Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and implementation of plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and firefighting systems for various projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments. This position requires technical expertise in system design, regulatory compliance, and effective project management to ensure safe and efficient installation and operation of building services. Key Responsibilities: Plumbing Design/BIM: Design of appropriate plumbing systems for the project including but not limited to domestic water, sanitary, storm water, hot water, gas systems etc. Performing appropriate calculations as directed by senior engineer Designing and developing plumbing system layouts, including pipe sizing and equipment selection. Knowledge of International Plumbing design codes Knowledge of Revit and ability to work in BIM environment. Coordinate and collaborate real time with other in-house disciplines such as electrical, structural, architectural, landscape etc to develop designs. Experience with LEED and sustainable design projects HVAC Design/BIM: Conducting heat load calculations using tools like HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) to determine heating and cooling requirements for buildings. Designing HVAC systems including water-cooled and air-cooled chiller plants, Variable Refrigerant flow (VRF) systems, Direct Expansion (DX) systems, etc. Selecting equipment such as chillers, cooling towers, VRF systems, fan coil units, air handling units (AHUs), fans, and DX units based on project specifications. Calculating ventilation requirements, pressurization needs, smoke management systems, pump head calculations, external static pressure, and sizing ducts and pipes. Selecting air distribution components like Variable Air Volume (VAV) boxes, grilles, diffuser, louvers, etc. Coordinating HVAC designs with other disciplines such as architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, etc. Applying knowledge of international codes and standards such as ASHRAE, AHRI, CIBSE, HTM, ASPE, etc., in HVAC system design. Planning and designing various HVAC systems considering energy efficiency, sustainability, and indoor air quality. Proficiency in Building Information Modelling (BIM) tools like Navisworks and BIM Collaboration (BIM 360). Preparing design reports, specifications, take-off sheets and bill of quantities (BOQ) for HVAC systems. Attending meetings with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and collaborating with various disciplines to ensure coordinated project delivery. Active participation in project meetings, providing technical insights, and resolving engineering issues as they arise. Specialized coursework or certification in HVAC systems is advantageous. Proven experience in HVAC system design, heat load calculations, equipment selection, and system optimization. In-depth knowledge of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration cycles. Familiarity with a variety of HVAC equipment, controls, and components. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex HVAC issues. Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. Firefighting Systems Design/BIM: Design fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and hydrants, according to national and international codes (e.G., NFPA, British Standards, and local regulations such as Dubai Civil Defense (DCD) or other regional fire codes). Special emphasis on systems designed for the Middle East's unique climate, building types, and regulations. Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems, ensuring proper coverage and compliance with safety standards. Design and layout fire detection and alarm systems, ensuring integration with other building services. Review fire protection system submittals and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Coordinate with fire protection authorities and building inspectors for approval and compliance checks. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (B.E/B.Tech/master's in mechanical) Experience: 8 to 15 years in Plumbing/ HVAC & Firefighting.
