Job Title: Planning Engineer – Interior Fit-Out

Department: Projects / Planning

Reports To: Project Manager / Head of Projects

Job Purpose:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules for interior fit-out projects. The role ensures timely execution of works through effective planning, coordination, and reporting, using tools like Microsoft Project (MSP) or Primavera, while supporting project teams at site and office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare baseline programs and detailed project schedules in MSP/Primavera for fit-out projects.
  • Break down project scope into activities covering design, procurement, approvals, production, and site execution.
  • Coordinate with design, procurement, and execution teams to ensure alignment of schedules.
  • Monitor progress and update schedules periodically with actual site data.
  • Analyze variances between baseline and actual, and prepare recovery schedules where required.
  • Identify critical and near-critical activities and alert project teams on risks.
  • Prepare look-ahead (weekly/monthly) schedules for site execution.
  • Integrate subcontractor schedules into the master program.
  • Track procurement, long lead items, and vendor deliveries within the schedule.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, dashboards, and S-curves to management and clients.
  • Support the project team in claims, extensions of time (EOT), and delay analysis.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards, quality requirements, and HSE guidelines in planning.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in MS Project / Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of interior fit-out works (civil, joinery, MEP, finishes).
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to handle delays and re-sequencing.
  • Good knowledge of resource planning, cost control, and project reporting.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills for cross-functional teamwork.
  • Ability to work under pressure with multiple project timelines.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil / Interior / Project Management Engineering (or related field).
  • 4–8 years of experience as a Planning Engineer, preferably in the interior fit-out / contracting industry.
  • Hands-on experience in handling medium to large-scale fit-out projects.
