Hornbill Capital Advisers LLP (Hornbill Capital) was founded in 2014. Hornbill Capital ( is an investment firm managing a predominantly long only public markets equity fund and is in the process of starting a private equity fund.


Hornbill Capital is seeking to build the fund raising and investor relations position in India. Hornbill Capital is in search of a Fund Raising and Investor Relations candidate who will play a pivotal role in raising offshore capital from financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, pension funds, fund of funds, family offices (multi and single) and high net-worth individuals. Incumbent should have experience in fund marketing, fund raise, well networked and the ability to cultivate relationships.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Fundraising: Raise funds from offshore investors such as financial institutions, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, pension funds, fund of funds, family offices (multi and single) and high net-worth individuals.
  • Investor Relations: Keep existing investors updated on fund performance and key developments on a periodic basis. Independently communicate key messages, both verbally and in writing, to existing and prospective investors by taking inputs from the investment team and the operations/finance team.
  • Fund Product Design: Based on global investors’ appetite, design fund products which will include key fund terms, target investor market, identification of anchor investors and benchmarking with competitors’ products.
  • Develop Go to Market Strategy: Direct outreach, leverage on Orchid Asia’s relations, use of placement agents and distributors.
  • Create and Maintain Proprietary Investor Database: Create and manage a database of investors across geographies. Continuously updating the investor database on the investment priorities of each investor by contacting them. Subscribing to investor databases, wherever applicable, on cost effective basis.
  • Investor Outreach: Continuously reach out to investors, creating investor pipeline funnel and converting prospective investors into investors of fund products of Hornbill Capital. This will include negotiating commercial terms, assisting investors in fund due diligence, documentation and investor onboarding.
  • Organize Roadshows: Build and plan efficient itineraries for physical meetings of Managing Partner with investors globally.
  • Enhance Fund Visibility: Consistently market the fund in various international investor forums, enhancing Hornbill Capital's visibility in the market.
  • Preparing Fund Collaterals: Prepare investor pitch book, Due Diligence Questionnaire.
  • Ensure presence in various fund databases and keeping it updated on a regular basis.
  • Scale up AUM: Responsible for scaling up the AUM of the firm for each strategy/product.
  • Organize Investor Group Meetings: Develop and plan innovative themes and events for the investors, organize annual fund meetings for existing investors, showcase portfolio company’s performance/achievements.
  • Provide Market Feedback: Proactively seek market feedback, especially from existing investors, on a continuous basis.


REPORTING:

  • The AVP will report to the Managing Partner.


GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Postgraduate degree from a Tier 1/2 B-school.
  • 3+ years of experience in Investment Banking (IB) or Venture Capital/Private Equity (VC/PE) funds or wealth management firms.
  • Experience in selling and marketing.
  • Knowledge / awareness of issues related to public equity and private equity funds.
  • Experience in dealing with global investors, institutional LPs, pension funds, sovereign funds, endowments will be an advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to interact with top management teams is a must.
