Maintenance Engineer

DESCRIPTION Key Responsibilities: Works with teams in the maintenance organization and assists line employees in basic maintenance procedures. Assists Facilities, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering in problem identification, trouble shooting, and equipment issue resolution and repair. Assists with spare parts and indirect materials inventory by using a computerized maintenance management system. Assists with equipment engineering design evaluations. Builds preventative maintenance processes to ensure equipment is available and capable. Health and Safety Fundamentals - Champions and models proactive health and safety behaviors by identifying, reporting and participating in actions to improve health and safety in order to build an interdependent culture and contribute to an injury-free workplace. Controls Safety - Recognizes controls related hazards in a manufacturing environment (Electrical, Hydraulic, Pneumatic) to incorporate safe practices and procedures as part of the daily work plan to reduce injuries and create a safe machine environment. Drawing Interpretation - Integrates product design and manufacturing equipment engineering drawings to support the design and development of an optimal manufacturing process that meets product design specifications. Equipment/Capital Procurement - Selects manufacturing equipment which meets the Cummins manufacturing specifications and meets the project or program needs. Preventative and Predictive Maintenance - Interprets machine and tool maintenance records and data to develop and execute preventative and predictive management strategies to drive continuous improvement within the manufacturing process. Values differences - Recognizing the value that different perspectives and cultures bring to an organization. Continuous Process Improvement - Recognizes areas in which a process can be improved by properly implementing process improvement and waste reduction methodologies to reduce process cost and improve quality in current manufacturing processes. Controls Engineering Knowledge - Applies the application of controls hardware and software by specifying, reviewing, and approving company-owned and/or supplier designs for new or upgrades to existing equipment to interface with all levels of manufacturing systems. Ergonomic Fundamentals - Understands ergonomic concepts by applying Cummins ergonomic standards, guidelines, controls and tools to reduce ergonomic risk to employees while at work. Manufacturing Knowledge - Demonstrates the knowledge of manufacturing by correctly implementing changes in current processes, equipment, and applications to meet the function's needs and contribute towards continuous improvement. Process Documentation - Produces written manufacturing procedures in proper sequence which are followed correctly by all approved stakeholders to establish continuity in processes and standardization. Education, Licenses, Certifications: Bachelors degree in electrical or Controls Engineering preferred. Experience: 510 years of experience in Electrical and Electronics fields QUALIFICATIONS Skills Required:- Experience with Ignition SCADA and SQL database preferred Proficiency in MES(Manufacturing Execution System) required. Hands-on expertise in: Industrial Automation (PLC systems): Siemens, Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Omron, HMI, GOT, SCADA. PLC Programming Tools : Siemens TIA Portal , SIMATIC Manager-Step7, GX Work2/3, GX Developer, RS Logix 500. Sensor Tools: Cognex Data Man, Sensor Studio, E2D200, AFC1500/3000, SIGMA Software, Zenon, SAM Light. Digital Communication Protocols: Ether Net/IP, Ether Cat, Device Net, Profibus, Profinet, RS232, CC Links. Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs): Siemens G120 Drives. Electronic Instrumentation : Installation and troubleshooting of scanners and sensors (, Cognex, IFM, Leuze). Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings. Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with electrical control systems.
