UrjanovaC is a clean energy and net-zero solutions company founded by IIT Bombay faculty members Prof. Vikram Vishal and Prof. Arnab Dutta. The company specializes in pioneering carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies aimed at decarbonizing hard-to-abate industries. UrjanovaC has developed a patented carbon management technology that captures and converts carbon dioxide into valuable end products.
Job Summary:
The Process Engineer is responsible for managing the development, design, commissioning, testing, and optimization of CO2 capture plants. This role involves evaluating and scaling our patented technology from pilot plant to full commercial-scale operations. A strong understanding of chemistry, fluid mechanics, kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transport phenomena is essential for this role, as it involves the application of chemical engineering principles.
Responsibilities:
· Prepare Scope of Work (SOW), Basis of Design, etc. documents, including design standards, site conditions, available utilities, emission and waste streams limitations, and overall performance requirements for the CO2 capture system;
· Oversee and provide technical approval for all project-related process engineering deliverables from CO2 capture technology providers, such as block flow diagrams, process flow diagrams (PFD), mass and energy balances, P&ID, utility flow diagrams and requirements, major equipment specifications, and plant layout.
· Serve as the project engineering lead during the study, construction, testing, and commissioning phases of the CO2 capture plant.
· Oversee, evaluate, and manage the designs of CO2 capture processing plants, monitor modifications and upgrades, and troubleshoot existing process designs;
· Applies the principles of mass, momentum, and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme, and detail design;
· Prepare reports and conceptual PFDs and P&IDs; Perform process hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP), and assess the safety and environmental impact of the plant;
· Perform technical, economic analysis (TEA) and evaluates the capital and operational cost of projects during the pre-construction phase;
· Work closely with Owners to develop scope definition documents such as P&IDs, general arrangements, electrical one-line diagrams, and major equipment specifications;
· Work closely with process technology suppliers to develop operating manuals, training programs, and procedures;
· Work closely with Patent lawyers or medical to write Patents or journals;
· Ensure all aspects of a design meet specified regulations;
· Provides guidance to plant engineering, operations, and maintenance staff at the installed power plants;
· Carry out other related tasks and projects as required to support the project from the conceptual design through commercial operation (COD);
· Provide operating guidance for process unit after COD;
· Other duties as assigned in support of power plant projects and operations.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering
At least 4 years of experience in development, design, and operations involving selective chemical absorption solvents and thermal kinetic
Optimization process or relevant experience in gas separation processing or gas power plants;
Must be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook
Working knowledge of computer-design equipment and computerized processes such as Aspen HYSYS is required; boiler technology and design of heat recovery steam generators, FEED studies, TEA;
Travel requirements may be up to 25%
