Position Overview:

Cha-Ya, a leading dessert-focused company, is seeking an experienced and creative Research and Development (R&D) Chef specializing in pastries and ice cream to join our dynamic culinary team in Rohini, Delhi. The R&D Chef will lead the development of innovative dessert recipes and products, driving menu expansion and culinary excellence in the pastry and ice cream categories. This role offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary talent, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to the continued success of Cha-Ya's dessert offerings.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Pastry and Ice Cream Recipe Development: Conceptualize, create, and refine pastry and ice cream recipes that align with Cha-Ya's brand identity and customer preferences. Lead the development process from ideation to commercialization, ensuring exceptional flavor, texture, and presentation.
  • Menu Innovation: Collaborate with marketing, operations, and other departments to identify opportunities for menu expansion and innovation in the pastry and ice cream categories. Develop seasonal offerings, limited-time promotions, and signature desserts to enhance the customer experience.
  • Ingredient Sourcing and Evaluation: Research and source high-quality ingredients for use in pastry and ice cream recipes, considering factors such as flavor profile, freshness, and availability. Conduct sensory evaluations and cost analysis to select the best ingredients for optimal taste and profitability.
  • Recipe Testing and Optimization: Conduct rigorous testing and refinement of pastry and ice cream recipes to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability for production in Cha-Ya's kitchens or manufacturing facilities. Collaborate with chefs and production teams to implement efficient and effective production processes.
  • Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, consumer preferences, and competitor offerings in the pastry and ice cream sectors. Use market insights to inform recipe development and menu planning decisions, ensuring Cha-Ya remains at the forefront of dessert innovation.
  • Cost Management: Work closely with the finance team to analyze the cost of ingredients and recipes, optimize product formulations for cost efficiency, and maintain target profit margins. Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or taste.
  • Food Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with food safety standards and regulations in all aspects of recipe development, production, and distribution. Maintain accurate records of ingredient sourcing, recipe formulations, and testing procedures to uphold Cha-Ya's commitment to food safety and quality.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of recipe formulations, testing results, and project progress. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and next steps to stakeholders, fostering transparency and alignment across the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, Food Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Pastry Chef, Ice Cream Chef, or R&D Chef specializing in pastries and ice cream.
  • Strong culinary skills and creativity, with a passion for dessert innovation.
  • In-depth knowledge of pastry techniques, ice cream production processes, and dessert trends.
  • Proficiency in recipe development, testing, and optimization, with a focus on quality, consistency, and scalability.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
