Overview & Responsibilities PURPOSE OF THE JOB What is the principal reason for the existence of the job? What is it designed to accomplish? What is the general function of the job? Primary role will be to support the India and global contract content for Elliott Group for current and new projects for Elliott proposals and projects including day-to-day follow-up, reporting and timely delivery of goods from vendors The incumbent will be expected to demonstrate a level of flexibility in their work schedule to achieve the demands of project deadlines. BACKGROUND and EXPERIENCE What are the requirements of this job in terms of education and previous work experience? What kinds of knowledge and skills should the incumbent possess? (e.g. technical know-how of a function, product or process; intensive knowledge of policies and procedures; analytical skills; selling techniques; supervisory skills, etc.) Bachelor ‘s degree in Mech Engineering or related field Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain and Expediting in the turbomachinery field Strong understanding of global and Indian supply chain & procurement processes and standards Possess a background in team-oriented environments, a positive attitude, an ability to change, a demonstrated ability to make decisions and a positive perspective regarding the work environment. Excellent communication skills are required, along with the ability to influence other departments and disciplines to work together to meet the needs of the customer. Understands company cost structure and how to develop full and accurate cost totals Preferred knowledge of operational processes at Elliott NATURE OF THE JOB What kind of job is this? Serves as a team member within the global supply chain team to help manage large and complex projects. Responsible for multiple purchasing and expediting assignments of large value Ensure day-to-day follow-up, reporting and timely delivery of goods from vendors Replace the need for off-shore Elliott Procurement team to constantly chase vendors across time zone, geography, language, communication barriers etc. Work with Logistics team for timely shipments from vendors Eliminate existing inefficiency and redundancy in the current process CONTACT WITH OTHERS Internally, with whom does the job require regular contact? (Within the group or department, outside the department, or with other functions). Mention committee memberships. What contacts are required outside the company? (With customers, vendors, professional organizations, etc.) What are the travel requirements? (frequency, duration) The job requires substantial contact with various departments within the company and suppliers. Position will require membership in internal Cross-Functional teams and Supplier Alliance Teams. May have contact with both internal and external customers in coordination meetings and other problem areas. Strong negotiating and influencing skills are required as a leader and when making deals with vendors. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English Travel required in support of supplier activities Knowledge of Hindi & Kannada preferred SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES Describe the important activities or duties of this job in a series of numbered sentences or short paragraphs. Expediting new, missing or returned documents/drawings from vendors, contractors and Engineering Participating in project meetings to provide updates and status of document submittals Ensuring submittals are received for Engineer review and returned to vendors/contractors per the schedule Identifying and escalating ongoing supplier/contractor documentation issues to Project Team Emphasizing a proactive, systematic and standardized approach to detect and avert delays to the contractual delivery dates stated within the contract Providing detailed updates to all stakeholders on the status of supplier/contractor document submittals Providing effective document expediting support and co-ordination for Project Team Serving as focal point for the communication, maintenance and update of supplier delivery commitments noted in the contract/purchase order as negotiated by the Buyer Providing timely information and support to suppliers, contractors and Project Team Performing shop visits as necessary for actual status and progress and issue expediting reports to Projects Reviewing inspection reports for potential problems and further actions Analyzing and evaluate the supplier/contractor document and data submittal plans Identifying disruptions in the supplier/contractor submission and delivery schedules Verifying the supplier/contractor reported progress and ability to meet its delivery obligations Through regular communication with assigned suppliers, insure the latest delivery information is kept up Practices principles of ethical purchasing and moral codes.
