Job Purpose

To provide technical leadership to CDE dept for meeting Design & engineering requirement for operating plants debottlenecking, green & brownfield projects in Layout & logistics area for Integrated Steel Plants in BF-BOF route, DRI-EAF route & other latest technology routes. Layout & logistics of all process areas from ore Beneficiation to Finished steel products & over steel plant.


Accountabilities & Responsibilities


Develop Conceptual Layouts, Logistics plans for different process areas & over all integrated steel plants.

Make stagewise/phase wise individual facility layouts, steel plant layouts for different options of process flow. Make Master Plan layouts.

Carry out benchmarking studies of individual facility & overall plant. Optimize layouts. Integrate main process areas layouts with those of balance plant facilities like water, electrical, Material handling, environment, etc.

Understanding of contours & optimizing cut & fill volumes.

Carryout Rail, road & sea routes logistics studies of ISPs, integrate ISP facilities with plant logistics.

Review TEFRs, PFRs, DPRs, Engineering scale plans, etc prepared by various engineering, logistics engg consultants.

Green belt related layout studies to meet environmental norms.

Coordinate with consultants, OEMs for Layouts & logistics engg.

Ensure self & subordinates follow company rules and protocols.

Maintain healthy relations with peers & subordinates.

Impart on the job training of employees (GETs, DETs, Cross Functional Engineers, etc) on domain expertise.

Subordinate development & foster continuous learning.

Ability to evaluate team members performance & recognize high performers. Train engineers on the job to improve performance.



Key Challenges

• Individual facility layouts & overall plant layout optimization considering world benchmarks, Process route, local environmental norms.

• Logistics (both internal plant & external) studies & optimization.

• Layouts & logistics planning considering future readiness (from Technology, environment, expansion point of view, etc.).


Skills & Knowledge

i. Educational Qualifications & Certifications - B.E. Civil or Mechanical.

ii. Total Years of Experience - 15 to 20 Yrs
