Role Overview:

The Assistant Manager - Raw Material Procurement is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the inventory of key raw materials such as Hot Rolled Coils, hot rolled plates, and coated steel, essential for manufacturing solar mounting structures, transmission towers, and wind towers. The role ensures an uninterrupted supply of quality materials at competitive prices, optimises procurement strategies, and manages supplier relationships to support production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute procurement strategies for raw materials, including HRC, coated steel, and hot rolled plates, based on production demands and market conditions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and vendors to secure the best terms and maintain a robust supply chain.
  • Issue and manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve any procurement-related issues to ensure the timely availability of materials.
  • Monitor market trends and pricing fluctuations for steel products and adjust purchasing plans accordingly.
  • Collaborate closely with production, quality control, finance, and plant planning teams to align procurement with manufacturing needs and quality standards.
  • Manage inventory levels effectively to balance between availability and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation and prepare reports on procurement performance, cost savings, and supplier evaluations.
  • Support vendor development and conduct periodic supplier audits for quality and delivery performance.
  • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives in the procurement process to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in raw material procurement in steel or manufacturing industries, preferably related to construction or heavy engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of HRC, coated steel, hot rolled plates, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse market trends and make data-driven procurement decisions.
  • Proficient in procurement SAP Hana applications.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and supplier compliance is a plus.
