Job Description

Overview: As the Head of Network, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our organization's network infrastructure. You will be responsible for leading a team of network professionals, designing, implementing, and maintaining network systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and reliability. This role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of network engineers and technicians, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the effective functioning of the network infrastructure.
  • Design, plan, and implement network solutions to meet the organization's current and future needs, considering factors such as scalability, performance, and security.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the network, including monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Develop and maintain network policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as IT security, operations, and engineering, to integrate network systems with other technology initiatives and business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in networking to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the organization.
  • Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to network equipment and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality of service.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and updates to senior management on the status of the network infrastructure, highlighting key performance metrics, challenges, and proposed solutions.
  • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes related to network infrastructure, providing input and recommendations based on technical expertise and business requirements.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the network team, promoting professional development and knowledge sharing among team members.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • At least 6 years of experience in network engineering or a related role, with a proven track record of leadership and project management.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex network architectures, including LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN, and wireless networks.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and standards, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and encryption protocols.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as Nagios, SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve common goals.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CCIE, CCNP, CISSP, or equivalent, are a plus.
