Job description
We at Medusa Beverages are looking for a talented Procurement Manager with relevant experience to join our team. As a Procurement Manager, you will play a critical role in managing the end-to-end procurement process of raw materials and packaging materials, ensuring that our breweries across India have the necessary materials to meet production and sales requirements.
Role Title : Procurement Manager
Department : Supply Chain & Procurement
Broad objective of the role
Manage end-to-end Procurement process of all the Raw Material and Packaging Material at MBPL, Material planning, inventory management, and vendor & compliances management in order to drive adequate availability at breweries across India in line with production and sales requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Supplier Management :
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers of raw materials (grains, hops, yeast, water, adjuncts, etc.) and packaging materials (bottles, cans, labels, cartons, etc.).
- Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery schedules, and quality consistency.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while exploring new sourcing opportunities to improve quality and reduce costs.
Inventory & Demand Planning:
- Work closely with production teams to forecast material requirements based on production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of raw materials and packaging to prevent stockouts or overstock situations.
- Ensure a smooth flow of materials to avoid disruptions in production.
Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure that all materials sourced comply with regulatory standards, quality specifications, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with the quality control department to ensure that raw materials and packaging meet the company’s standards before use in production.
Cost Management & Budgeting:
- Oversee the procurement budget, identifying areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Track and analyze procurement expenses and suggest strategies to minimize costs without compromising quality.
- Implement sustainable procurement practices that align with company goals and environmental considerations.
Supplier Performance & Reporting:
- Monitor supplier performance through regular assessments, ensuring timely deliveries and quality standards are met.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on procurement activities, material usage, cost savings, and supplier performance.
Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with production, logistics, and R&D teams to ensure smooth coordination of materials and timely delivery.
- Support the New Product Development (NPD) team by sourcing new ingredients or packaging as needed for product innovation.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (5+ years) in procurement, ideally within the same industry, with a focus on raw materials and packaging materials.
- Strong knowledge of the beer production process and the materials involved (grains, hops, yeast, etc.).
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on cost management and quality assurance.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience in sustainable procurement practices and eco-friendly packaging.
