What role you'll play in the crew
India Autism Center (IAC) has a dynamic research team focused on developing a deeper understanding of autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions. Our research initiatives have been supported by organizations like Wellcome Trust, and our research findings have been published in the top journals in the field of autism.
To learn more about our work, visit: advancing our vision for autism research, we need a Research Director to join the team. We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to fill this position. The individual will work closely with the Consultant Research Director and Research Coordinators at the India Autism Center and actively contribute to the IAC's ongoing efforts to conduct studies and contribute to ongoing research projects. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our team dedicated to advancing the understanding of autism and service development for the autism community.

·       Identify research areas in autism-related topics (e.g., early intervention, behavioral therapies, neurodiversity in the workplace), prepare project proposals with clear objectives, methodology
·       Collaborate with the Research Director and Research Coordinator to develop and refine the research strategy and annual plan specific to autism research, in line with the vision and objectives of the IAC.
·       Identify emerging research areas and topics within autism research that align with the organization's mission and generate action-focused research ideas.
·       Identify potential areas of collaboration and provide suggestions for shaping the future direction of the research department.
2.     Project Management and Coordination:
·       Plan and manage budget allocations for research topics
·       Assist in the coordination and management of research projects, including resource allocation, project timelines, and deliverables.
·       Monitor project progress, identify potential challenges, and propose solutions to ensure successful project completion.
·       Research Database Integration and Management that ensures a centralized, secure system for collecting, storing, and analyzing autism research data, enabling seamless collaboration and data-driven insights.
·       Select relevant journals to publish the papers, ensure alignment with submission guidelines, contact editors, and be prepared for revisions based on reviewer feedback.
3.      Grants Acquisition & Accreditation Management
·       Lead the end-to-end process of securing grants, including identifying funding opportunities, preparing applications, and obtaining approvals from grant-providing institutions.
·       Oversee registration and accreditation requirements to ensure compliance with eligibility criteria for various funding bodies.
·       Maintain accurate documentation and regulatory compliance to support grant applications and audits.
·       Develop strategies to strengthen institutional credibility and maximize funding potential.
4.      Research Compliance and Ethics:
·       Support the establishment of the IAC Research Ethics Committee by developing guidelines and policies to ensure ethical, safe and compliant research practices.
·       Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulations governing research activities
5.     Data Analysis and Reporting:
·       Overseeing and organization of information via using Microsoft tools, Redcap etc.
·       Collaborate with team members to analyze research findings and contribute to the preparation of reports, publications, and presentations.
·       Work in close collaboration with the communication team to communicate research outcomes to stakeholders, both internal and external, through various channels.
6.     Team Development and Mentorship:
·       Serving as a trusted guide, offer comprehensive support and professional development opportunities to the members of the research team.
·       Facilitate training and workshops on research methodologies, ethics, and compliance.
7.     Promotion of Research Department
·       Engage & Educate: Host expert-led webinars, podcasts, and panel discussions featuring global researchers and real-life autism stories.
·       Share & Showcase: Publish newsletters, case studies, and annual reports to highlight research progress, breakthroughs, and community impact.
·       Support & Recognize: Offer research grants and scholarships to encourage innovation in autism studies and feature recipients' work across media channels.
·       These initiatives will help establish IAC as a leader in autism research, foster greater community engagement, and attract potential partners and supporters.
About the candidate
Skill/Qualifications /Experience.
Education: A doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field such as Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychiatry, or a related discipline.
Experience/ Domain Knowledge:
Experience in conducting research related to autism spectrum disorder for a minimum period of 2 years
In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with various psychophysiological data collection techniques, such as eye tracking, functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), electroencephalography (EEG), and other relevant techniques.
Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in statistical analysis software (such as MatLab, R) to analyze and interpret complex psychophysiological and survey data.
Proficient to use REDCap as the database management system that helps us efficiently collect, store, and analyze data for autism care and research. Use its advanced analytics, role-based access, and integration capabilities to enhance data accuracy, compliance, and decision-making for impactful autism interventions.
Language Preference: Proficient in speaking and writing in English, Bengali, Hindi
