What you’ll be doing Supporting the council financial accounts process by using specialist knowledge in corporate finance, government policy and local authority finance legislation, ensuring the Council complies with indirect taxation requirements. You’ll also be involved with the planning, managing and leading the process by which revenue monitoring reports are prepared and reported, with a focus on accounting tasks, including preparing and reviewing relevant working papers for the statement of accounts, including timely responses to auditors. What you’ll need With experience of accounting processes, financial planning and understanding and interpreting legislation and used to handling large volumes of data. Being confident in using spreadsheets at an advanced level and reporting on this data. A logical thinker you’ll be able to problem solve in a creative and proactive manner. You’ll have a positive attitude to flexible working and show resilience when working in a fast-changing operational support environment. Using excellent customer service skills will allow you to easily converse with all areas of the business and business support teams and translate their requirements into the technical solutions. You’ll hold an accountant qualification (CIPFA, ICA, ACCA, CIMA).
