Job Description

This is a remote position.

Virtual Rockstar is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Virtual Medical Billing Specialist to join our client’s Physical Therapy team based out of New Jersey. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of medical billing, including verifying patient insurance coverage, obtaining pre-authorizations for procedures, and processing insurance claims. This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own home while contributing to our mission of providing top-quality care to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.

  • Obtain pre-authorizations for medical procedures as required.

  • Update patient files with accurate insurance information.

  • Explain insurance benefits and coverage details to patients.

  • Liaise with insurance providers to clarify coverage and resolve any issues.

  • Track the status of pending insurance claims and follow up on unpaid claims.

  • Assist patients with insurance-related queries and provide support as needed.

  • Process and submit claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.

  • Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve billing discrepancies.

  • Review and appeal denied claims to ensure maximum reimbursement.

  • Generate billing reports for management and analyze data as needed.

  • Generate and send invoices to patients and insurance companies.

  • Independently identify and address unpaid claims to ensure accurate processing.


Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Medical Billing Specialist or similar role.

  • Strong understanding of medical billing procedures and insurance claims processing.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote setting.

  • Proficiency in using billing software, Prompt EMR preferred.

  • Familiarity with communication tools such as Slack.

  • Experience with VoIP systems, such as Nextiva, is a plus.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and coding (e.g., CPT, ICD-10) preferred.

  • Experience working in a physical therapy or healthcare setting is a plus.
