Senior Network Engineer

Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust network infrastructures. The ideal candidate will have expertise in BGP, OSPF, and static routing protocols, along with hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network switches, firewalls, and related technologies. As part of the team, you will ensure the network's reliability, redundancy, and security while proactively identifying opportunities for performance optimization and risk mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Network Infrastructure Design & Maintenance:
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, focusing on BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) and static routing, including static default routing.
- Routing Protocols Management:
- Implement and manage routing protocols such as OSPF (Open Shortest Path First) and BGP, ensuring efficient network communication.
- Switching Technologies Implementation:
- Implement switching technologies, including Nexus vPC, Spanning Tree Protocol (STP), and Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP), to ensure high availability and network redundancy.
- Security & Firewall Management:
- Configure and maintain Fortigate Firewalls, ensuring robust network security and data protection.
- Network Troubleshooting & Monitoring:
- Use advanced network monitoring tools to track network performance, quickly diagnose and resolve network issues, and minimize downtime.
- Network Optimization:
- Recommend infrastructure changes to improve availability, reliability, and resilience of the network, while identifying potential risks and suggesting mitigation strategies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Routing & Switching Expertise:
- Strong hands-on experience with routing technologies such as BGP, OSPF, and static/default routing, along with a deep understanding of switching technologies like Nexus vPC, STP, and HSRP.
- Firewall & Security Knowledge:
- Proficient in configuring and maintaining Fortigate Firewalls, with a solid grasp of network security practices.
- Troubleshooting & Performance Monitoring:
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues using monitoring tools like SolarWinds or PRTG, ensuring consistent network performance.
- Configuration Management:
- Experience with prefix-lists and route maps to manage and optimize routing paths.
- Problem Management & Root Cause Analysis (RCA):
- Strong problem management and root cause analysis skills to address network issues effectively.
- Network Monitoring & Performance Tools:
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools to proactively track and address network performance.
Preferred Skills:
- Certifications:
- CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent network certifications preferred.
- Additional Network Knowledge:
- Familiarity with enterprise-level network architecture and security protocols, with specific expertise in CISCO routing and switching.
- Security Protocols & Firewalls:
- Certifications or experience in firewalls and security protocols are a plus.
