About the RoleThis is a senior position for a Systems Engineering role on the Device Engineering team at Headspin. We are building tools to automate, instrument, and ultimately enable remote control of mobile devices. You have experience digging into device internals over USB, debugging systems, and building production-grade back-end services.
What you doYour role on the team will be to support our efforts to deliver a first-class mobile device cloud.You will build products and contribute to features that enable our customers to test, inspect, andmeasure the reliability and performance of their mobile apps in a virtualized interactiveenvironment with real devices. You need to be just as comfortable writing mobile applications toleverage supported device frameworks as you are diving into disassembled code to figure outhow a proprietary device service operates. This is not an app development role and requires adeep understanding of operating systems internals to succeed.You will be part of a team-wide collaborative effort to research mobile device softwareecosystems and develop novel products that accomplish that which cannot be done withoff-the-shelf tooling. You will need to be up to the challenge to develop software that extends thehorizon of what is possible. We are enabling mobile software development teams to achievetheir best work and therefore you will also need to be able to diagnose customer issues whenthey arise and use your findings to strengthen our product.
Necessary skillsStrong proficiency in programming C or Java or experience in any backendprogramming language with any C-based languageSolid scripting skills (e.g., shell scripts, Perl / Ruby / Python); Golang a plusDeep familiarity with operating systems in MacOS and Linux command-lineenvironmentsAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.Can diagnose protocol issues using packet analyzers like Wireshark etc.Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality software solutions on time and withinbudgetExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills and strong communication andleadership abilities.
Bonus skillsWorking knowledge/experience on networking is an added plus.Experience in network skills such as hex editor, debugger, disassembler andpacket sniffer.Having experience in reverse engineering in any of the tools such as Hopper, IDAPro, Ghidra or Capstone is mandatory.Proficiency in at least one of the following Swift, Apple Development Ecosystemand mobile app technologies.
Required ExperienceHaving 7-8 years of relevant experienceRequired educationBachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.5 years of experience with software development in one or more programminglanguages, and with data structures/algorithms.3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1year of experience with software design and architecture.
