About Ahhaa

At Ahhaa, we are building the Operating System for Emotional Wellbeing — a platform that helps individuals, schools, and organizations track, understand, and elevate their emotions. Our app and dashboards combine behavioral science, neuroscience, and AI intelligence to provide guided practices and real-time insights.

We're looking for a Backend Engineer (Python & AI) who is passionate about building scalable systems, working with emotional/wellbeing data, and contributing to our AI-driven future.

Responsibilities

  • Backend Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services in Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask).
  • Build and manage APIs for the Ahhaa app, dashboards, and AI features.
  • Ensure system reliability, data integrity, and security.
  • AI & Data Integration
  • Collaborate with product and research teams to integrate AI/ML models into the backend.
  • Work with emotion-tracking data pipelines to support predictive analytics and personalized recommendations.

  • Implement APIs for real-time AI insights, dashboards, and emotion prediction features.

  • System Architecture & Scaling

  • Optimize backend systems for high performance and low latency.
  • Manage databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/NoSQL) and design efficient schemas for emotion & user data.

  • Deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure).

  • Collaboration & Growth

  • Work closely with mobile app, frontend, and AI research teams.
  • Stay updated with latest in Python, AI frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow), NLP, and APIs.
  • Contribute to shaping Ahhaa's AI intelligence roadmap.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of backend development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Python and backend frameworks (FastAPI/Django/Flask).
  • Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and cloud deployment.
  • Experience with databases (SQL & NoSQL), caching, and scaling systems.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and integration into production systems.
  • Understanding of data pipelines, analytics, and model serving.
  • Passion for AI, wellbeing, and building meaningful technology.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with NLP, sentiment analysis, or emotion recognition.
  • Hands-on with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines.
  • Prior startup experience (ownership mindset, agility).
  • Interest in mental health / wellbeing tech.
